I've e-mailed Cllr Grimes, since I wasn't sure if the new GO station announcement referred specifically to SmartTrack, or if it was the new GO station shortlist that was supposed to be announced this month too. His response is below. In summary Park Lawn did not make the short list and him and Cllr DiCiano, along with MP Maloney, are meeting with Metrolinx later this month to see if anything can be done (or at least to get an explanation). If you live in the area or think that a Park Lawn GO is a good idea, consider sending an email to Bruce McCuaig (via Cllr Grimes office:Councillor_Grimes@toronto.ca) re-iterating that the area is need of reliable transit.

Just to clarify – Park Lawn Go was not proposed as part of the SmartTrack plan, but as an independent campaign by Councillor Grimes and Councillor Di Ciano. You are correct in that Metrolinx did not include Park Lawn in its shortlist – but the report released does state would be considered in the future for potential expansion. Here is the report, which details the rationale:

Councillor Grimes was extremely disappointed to hear that Park Lawn did not make the short list of stops, as he had communicated the importance of this stop – along with Councillor Di Ciano – through a petition as well as many ongoing communications with Metrolinx. Councillor Grimes and Councillor Di Ciano, along with MP James Maloney, will be meeting with Metrolinx to ask them to reconsider this decision, as well as further explain the rationale as to why this rapidly growing area was not included. At this point, they will also be writing letters to the board to further stress the need for transit in the area. If possible, we are asking that residents write their own letters of support addressed to the Chair of the Metrolinx board J. Robert S. Prichard as well as CEO Bruce McCuaig, detailing the need for a transit stop in Humber Bay Shores. Your support is appreciated, please send the completed letters to our office so that they can be presented in advance of the meeting on June 28.

The Lakeshore West is a planned electric-locomotive hauled route, which may not be as amenable to short ststion spacing as the Kitchener-Stoufville route (SmartTrack) which will be the first non-UPX route to get EMUs.

I wonder if this factored in?

...Lakeshore West could get EMUs later, still -- it was Option 4 Full Buildout ($19B instead of $13.5B)

Does a Liberty Village stop mean King and Sudbury or Queen and Dufferin or something else altogether?
It's nothing more than an idea at this point. It will be years before any of these stations are more than anyone's imagination.

The proposed Liberty Village stop is on King. However the proposed DRL is on Queen. If the DRL is going to be on Queen, then the GO stop needs to be at Queen/Dufferin as well so that there can be an interchange.
Maybe they can bring the line down to King west of Spadina to actually serve Liberty Village. They can go diagonal towards King. If they can expropriate houses for the Scarborough subway, they can do the same for the Relief line as needed.

^ I was thinking of that earlier this week; makes sense to make the line go south to King and Sudbury all the way to King and Dufferin to serve the future intensification of that site, and then to bring it north to Parkdale and Roncesvalles on Queen.
