^It's nice to see work getting done, but I have to say..... that line is going to be a damn boring ride with all that sound fencing.. Might as well sell the air rights and build up top.

I always enjoyed the views of the back yards.

Basically an open roof subway

Indeed. We almost bought a house along the line earlier this year but glad we didn't end up offering, partially because of the walls. You can see the result on the adjacent backyards from the Innes Ave pedestrian bridge from which I took those photos today. Genuinely looks pretty horrible.

Shame they couldn't convince Hydro to bury those cables and scrap those hideous towers.
Probably worth reading these posts from the Davenport Diamond thread:
Are those bridges already wide enough for a second track?

It seems like they've dialled back converting the at grade crossings north of the city. They'll probably just plow 2WAD service through and upgrade incrementally over the long term.

After the Barrie Line Double Track Enabling Project is done in Summer 2025 we should see some kind of update. Perhaps they'll just Double track all the way up to Aurora in one contract and finally get around to building Caledonia and Bloor-Landowne, etc.

Interestingly, we received notices that the hydro corridor that runs along the west side the Barrie Rail line between Davenport and just North of Eglinton will be relocated at the request of Metrolinx.

According to Hydro One:

"The majority of the proposed tunnel would run underneath Caledonia Road at a depth of between 10 to 40 metres underground and would connect into new junction stations located at each end of the tunnel. A junction station facilitates the transition from overhead to underground lines. These sites would also serve as tunnel shafts for construction and access points for ongoing maintenance and operational needs."

This also frees up a lot of the land needed to build the proposed Earlscourt Station that was shifted to their 2035+ plan.

Another downside with the sound walls is that I was hoping there would be room to squeeze a multi use trail next to the tracks, especially with the hydro towers being removed.

But with the walls, it makes it a bit dangerous and not very convenient to use a trail. Also not very enjoyable either.

These walls are going to be covered by taggers. This whole stretch is going to look very "ghetto-esque" with all the spray paint adorning the walls.

Stop off at the Long Branch GO Statom to have a quick look along looking at something else.

Track bridge in place for the 3 tracks where the new tunnel is to go being push under the bridge like they dix for the LRT push box at Port Credit station. No easy way to get shots of the east end other than going up on the overpass and did not have time to do so to see what was taking place.

Another area where the weekend hourly service or no service was put to good use.

I don’t see any noticeable changes to the Stouffville line following back-to-back weekend closures. Perhaps it was signalling work that’s needed to be done but we don’t see the progress.

I was hoping for either work on the west highland creek bridge or finishing the track around Milliken station.
