It would be amazing if they also announce a short extension of the Finch LRt to connect with this station.
So apparently they confirmed that the Finch LrT will be extended here. It’s in the press video in the Finch LRt thread.

very strange.... not even mentioned on the website... this went completely under the radar...
this was the city's assessment last year of where they considered this extension as a priority vs other projectsIt would be amazing if they also announce a short extension of the Finch LRt to connect with this station.
My parents live in that area and so I'd say ...no, not a chance... density in that area is much too low. I doubt woodbine race tracks is anything close to a destination atm, and I have no idea which concerts Ford believes have happened at that location but I've never heard of any. Happy to be proved wrong about the above thoIt's identified as being "one of the busiest stations on the GO network".
Am I the only one that is doubtful of that?
^ News release.
Update: only one media asset provided below. Sadly, no track plan cc @crs1026

Less of a confirmation and more of a statement of intent. Expect to hear nothing for 4-5 years
Tbc it was a city counselor who mentioned the extention and as someone mentioned, I forget in which thread...Finch extension to the station for now is a city project, though I can't imagine something to woodbine go is not in the works...Well this is the first time this extension has been mentioned by the provincial government and since they will most likely be funding it is good news. As for when it will be built who knows.

I wonder what will happen to all the TTC routes in the area? Even for those living near woodbine the station is in the middle of nowhere since it's way south of the Casino/exdale blvd. The most interesting details to me:
- I certainly don't recall any lengthy EA's or public consultations, which was the explanation DoFo gave for why this took six years since the last announcement - since when does a TPAP take six years ?
- The design may be debatable as a matter of taste, but the interesting detail is the choice of overhead bridges rather than underground pedestrian tunnels
- Credit to the Toronto Star, which pointed out the six year inaction, and also the reality that the surrounding land sits under a Pearson flight path and is unlikely to be a great place to live
- No mention of the status of the fastracked rezoning
- Media reports indicate there will be major utility relocations required. Hard to believe this project will happen all that quickly. No mention of procurement, either. This really is just the beginning.
Having said all that, with DoFo and Chow both having attached their names to this project, it is probably going to happen, and that will remove a major blockage in GO Expansion to Kitchener.
Now, if we could just hear about a deal with CN to advance Bramalea-Silver, we might actually be able to say there is good news on this corridor.

Just pulling this from the Woodbine Racetrack thread, the official plan amendment for the mixed use community was granted by the Province in January of this year. The most interesting details to me:

There is this track plan in the environmental assessment process documents:Sadly, no track plan
The government declared the Woodbine GO TPAP complete on April 21, 2020, and issued a notice to proceed with construction.I certainly don't recall any lengthy EA's or public consultations, which was the explanation DoFo gave for why this took six years since the last announcement - since when does a TPAP take six years ?
There is a multi-purpose entertainment venue (as I've mentioned in another thread, despite its name, not really a theatre) there, that now looks like it has an increased number of shows happening from the somewhat more sparse schedule when it first opened about 18 months ago.... I have no idea which concerts Ford believes have happened at that location but I've never heard of any...

The 45 bus that passes Etobicoke north does pass a lot of residential areas
Yes, if they want people to get somewhere from the GO train station, including the casino and race track grandstand, TTC and Miway buses will have to somehow be routed to stop there once it opens, I would suppose through the Woodbine property and around the outside of race track. Unless they're also going to build a lot of sidewalks, no one is walking anywhere from there, as the location at present is entirely pedestrian unfriendly.8 bus bays at the new Woodbine Go Station. I wasn't expecting a bus terminal.
I assume Mississauga routes 30 and 11, GO and YRT being extended to the new GO station, and a better connection for TTC route 927? And somehow route 37A.
It will be interesting how bus routes are realigned to this new Station. Maybe TTC can have a few routes run out of this station , instead of forcing the route to some subway Station like most TTC bus routes?..
