probably talked about scotch as well
Did Dougie have a painting commissioned of his brother in front of a staticy TV screen?
What do you mean by coproducing?More seriously, it's interesting to speculate on what messages CPKC would want to send to Ontario and what messages Ontario would want to send CPKC. This flows more into General Railway discussion than GO Transit, but I will leave it here.
Ontario:
- Milton Line (it's effectively a Ford promise at this point)
- Service to the auto industry and new plants in the works
- GO to Peterborough and Bolton
- Landswapping to advance GO
- Service to industries on line (jobs at stake, highway usage)
CPKC:
- We don't mind running GO if the price is right, but ML are idiots
- Reality check on using CPKC lines for GO Transit
- Reality check on rerouting or coproducing with CN (hint: stay away)
- Need for yard facilities in particular places
- Need for grade separations and security in particular places - not our fault if people get hit etc
- Desire for subsidy to build into auto industry locations
- Desire for subsidy for just about anything you might mention
- Desire for transload in preference to retaining spurs and branchlines and local switching
Just spitballing here, I have no inside info. Main thing is, CP may have an agenda that extends beyond GTA or GO.

City worries strip of land critical to Cambridge GO Transit extension could be sold
A consent application to sever a strip of land on the east side of the CN railway tracks in Hespeler has prompted the city and region to object to the ideawww.cambridgetoday.ca
The City / Region are now blocking CN from severing parts of the Fergus Spur.
Because of the consortium structure on Onxpress, it looks like we have engineers who've worked on the Spanish high speed lines rather than lines in Germany. I don't have any first hand experience of those lines but they operate a much higher speeds than we need for GO Expansion. We get DB to run GO trains, but can we get their engineers as well?
Of note, the land in question once was a rail station:
It also includes a picture of the excavation taking place down there. I had seen what was done on the east side of the road, but the picture seems to be looking west of the road (in the severed parcel area). I find it curious, they seem like drainage works. From the above:

While we're speculating, I'd add line 4 Sheppard subway to Malvern along their corridor.More seriously, it's interesting to speculate on what messages CPKC would want to send to Ontario and what messages Ontario would want to send CPKC. Build it and they will come! Did you see how the tie-in track was coming along?I was at the West Harbour GO this afternoon for a 5:15 train back to town and a ton of people got off when the train arrived and over 100 got on. Had no idea it was that well used!
