21:42 Arrival at mount pleasant deadheads back to union?

Yes.

The last train to guelph probably deadheads back to union.

No. Due to the timing of CN's wayfreight to Kitchener, it was decided that this train would end its run at Guelph, and thus have lots of time to make its way to the Shirley Layover without having to worry about a schedule. If it needs to sit and wait for the CN crew to finish its work, it can.

Dan

^ Would they ever consider adding a layover siding in Guelph or would it make more sense to add/upgrade sidings between Guelph and Kitchener to eliminate the conflict?

Is CN really not willing to shift their Huron Park operations to midday or later in the night? And arent they already running waterloo spur trains after 1 pm?

I don't think that a layover siding will ever be necessary in Guelph, but the plan/hope is that with better track and additional, signalized sidings that meets can be planned where none can happen today.

Midday won't help, as there will now be GO trains running.

And they can't run them later in the night - as it is now the current train is scheduled to depart MacMillan Yard at 10.30pm or so, and only barely makes it out of Kitchener in time for the first GO of the morning.

Just like with many other problems, the best solution to this is more track (and signals).

Anyone know if the new schedule has affected existing through services in anyway (new or reduced?)

Here's a list of added and removed through runs.

So it's not like a great huge order of bi-level cars or locomotives just arrived. How many more times can GO do this before someone says, "we need more equipment."

I thought GO had been receiving small, but consistent car and loco orders for incremental fleet growth?

I noted some references to services being six packs - are they chopping up lightly used 12 packs now that more Tier 4 locos are available, maybe hanging onto the F59s too?

They have 6 F59 locomotives, 16 tier 4 with 10 more on the way , and 65 mp40s

So 87 now and 97 soon. 81 and 91 if they let go of the f59

A lot can still be done, specifically weekend service. Those trains just sit there on the weekend
And at midday, too. Only at peak is the fleet fully utilized. There is plenty of equipment available for midday/evening service..
The other limiting factor is crews, and BBD has been training lots of new crews.

Thanks for this - sad to see that the old 15:46 from Unionville to Kitchener is gone. That used to complete my commute.

Also - how did you construct this?

So it's not like a great huge order of bi-level cars or locomotives just arrived. How many more times can GO do this before someone says, "we need more equipment."

They've received almost 200 new cars over the past 2 years. That's not "huge"?

They have 6 F59 locomotives, 16 tier 4 with 10 more on the way , and 65 mp40s

So 87 now and 97 soon. 81 and 91 if they let go of the f59

8 F59s, and the 16 Tier 4 locos are now entering service. But there aren't 10 more coming.

Dan
