I was wondering why i was on the GO bus one day a couple weeks ago and it said “service changes coming April 13” then there were no changes for then, but they pushed it back to April 25
Aside from the typical reduction in service on the post secondary routes, and the seasonal service such as the 47/52 heading to Wonderland, 25 stopping at Toronto Premium Outlets, and 96 stopping at Toronto Zoo, we got some other notable changes worth talking about.
- 15 min mid day and evening weekend service returns from Oakville to Oshawa on both Lakeshore Lines, starting from May 2.
- New Kitchener Line weekday trains, 8:49AM train leaving Union to Kitchener and 3:43PM train leaving Kitchener to Union. Both trains run counter peak express, in the morning from Union, stopping at Bloor, then to Bramalea, Brampton, Mount Pleasant, then running non stop to Guelph, and then finally Kitchener. The reverse is done for the afternoon run.
- Lakeshore East weekday service unfortunately gets about 80% of its service cut, the 10 min peak service is gone, as it's reduced to 15 mins but in a much smaller window of service. Mid day and evening service gets reduced to hourly service, however 30 min service returns for the counter peak direction.
- Route 19 now gets 30 min afternoon weekend service between 2:15-7:15PM heading to Finch, and 1:20-5:50PM heading to Square One.
- Route 22 now gets extended to the Hwy 401/25 Park and Ride.
- Route 27 now stops at Meadowvale Blvd/Financial Dr.
- Route 30 now stops in Waterloo at University Ave/Weber St, Route 17 will also stop there along with an additional new stop in Kitchener at Victoria St/Lackner Blvd.
- New Route 33 trip on weekends at 9:07AM from U of Guelph, ending at Mount Pleasant. Rest of the weekend trips remain at bi hourly service.
- Route 37 will sometimes head to Bramalea GO, which will now open up Caledon and Orangeville along Highway 10, to a connection to almost the entire GTA at Bramalea.
- New Route 40C branch operating between Hamilton and Unionville, alternating between hourly and bi hourly service all 24/7. Overall Route 40 service frequency is increased, 15-20 min service from 5:10AM-9:10AM and 1PM-6PM from Hamilton to Richmond Hill, and vice versa from 6:05AM-9:05AM and 3:18PM-6:18PM.
- New Route 41G branch running all stops between Hamilton and Centennial College, replacing the non stop McMaster to Square One service after 5PM due to the reduced post secondary service for the Summer. Basically it's a combined 41B and 47G service.
- Route 94 now has 30 min service between 2:20PM-4:20PM on weekdays, but only in the eastbound direction from Square One to Pickering.
I’m overall both surprised and excited that we got these changes, especially the Lakeshore and Kitchener ones. Didn’t think we’d even get much outside of the post secondary reduction and seasonal additions but i’m glad we did.
Edit: finding out the Lakeshore East weekday cuts really hurts this service change. Still pretty great for the other stuff but wow.
