The King-Spadina Public Realm Strategy is headed to the June 24th meeting of TEYCC for approval.

The Strategy identifies potential improvements to parks and streetscapes for the area.

From the report, a list of new Parks and POPs that have been secured/built in the King-Spadina area recently.

Of note below, Duncan Street being looked at for narrowing, enhanced streetscape and cycling facilities!

I'm pleased (and surprised?) to see the city referring to 456 Wellington as the "cat park". I thought that the official line was that there was that the city was making no commitment to using Cormier's design for that park.

The city always says that about parkland dedication areas ("we won't use the developers design"), I think for competitive bidding reasons, but the developer chosen design usually wins anyway.

I thought the "cat park" is under construction already?

Not as far as I know, but I haven't walked down Wellington in a while. There is the park off Draper backing onto the Well that I think might have also featured a cat theme?

I have been waiting for John Street for ages, and a reinvented Canada's Walk of Fame even longer.

Supposedly (no counting chickens and all that) we will start to see the new John Street next year...............

Several years late..........

See the St. Lawrence thread for what Toronto Hydro has done to the project to beautify Wellington Street to know they are neither competent nor caring.

Specifically, this post:

This project will get done despite them, not because of them.

So....I'm looking through the list of 'secured' parks above..............and I'm looking at 525 Richmond and thinking.....there's no park there...............

Then I see (Musee Parkette) in brackets.

So I google search it.......

Oh........that's this....................

I need to check this one out in person............maybe others here have seen it how its used.........

The quality of the finishes isn't bad at all..............but it doesn't really give me a 'park' vibe'........

Nor does it seem particularly interesting....

But maybe I'm being harsh........

Do you have the file for the full report? For some reason the link only goes up to page 15

I assume you're asking me?

(you didn't tag me or reply to my post).....

This is the 'index' page of the report to Council.

For some reason, they broke it into tiny attachments.

I didn't see a link the entire study as one document.

(which is odd)

A quick google search does not turn up anything better; nor did a search at toronto.ca

I used to work nearby and have sat here on a coffee break on a couple of occasions. The finishes are nice – the paving is quite cute, and it's a secluded little spot. You're right, "park" is a misnomer – they probably should have called it a "square". As far as "how it's used" – the answer, in my v limited experience, is "not much". It's nice to have a little respite from the bustle of King & Bathurst, but this spot isn't really on the way from one place to another, and most people don't know it's there. It would be nice if there was a cafe or something in that laneway to animate things a bit more.

Thanks for the reply.

That jives w/my perception.

it is small but looks good. from what i can tell it uses good materials and was put together well. the trees are looking good and get good sun. i think it will be very nice and lush when they plant flowers. hopefully soon.
