Alberta is developing a Passenger Rail Master Plan that will serve as the foundation to advance passenger rail in the province.

This is very interesting. It talks about LRTs, Commuter Rail and Regional Rail. No mention of HSR.

.. and that’s how it was lost in 1986 (?), at a time where routes were revived across the country (e.g., Moncton-Edmundston, Toronto-Havelock, Jasper-Vancouver).

Half my friends seem to have kids at Trent U. It’s too bad the Toronto-Peterborough-Havelock run was shuttered. There must be a couple of hundred university students a day making that run on the GO Bus via the GoTrain to Oshawa.
