at the church near the ROM,
rather like the wooden pole. Somehow it portends changing times and the coming age. In a pre-First World War streetscape festooned with ornamental pippypoos and doodads that are leftovers - even then - from an earlier time, and interchangeable with those found in most North American or European cities of the day, the plain wooden pole is the only thing that feels like it looks forward in time. Electricity is in the air! The Modern age is almost upon us!

... and the metalwork doors you see in the photo of the entrance lobby are now installed at the entrance to an office building on the east side of Bay, just south of Richmond.
