It occurred to me while I was playing with the idea of connecting the Radial Railway Tram with the Historic Rossdale Power Plant via the Low Level Bridge that there would be an entire slate of positives that would come out of such a venture:
1. (most obvious) strong access to the Power Plant affording an opportunity for a twofer -- i. an opportunity to "activate" the Power Plant Building into a viable Edmonton Resource -- my thoughts here revolve around creating a Canadian Indigenous Centre (I'll pick that up in the appropriate thread later) -- ii. underscoring two historical resources in one move (Power Plant Building + Radial Railway Tram extension).
2. providing an alternative to car parking in the Rossdale area of the River Valley that would accrue to both the Power Plant and RE/MAX Field -- ride scheduling could reflect event dates and times to a large extent connecting LRT at Muttart with the Radial Railway expansion (this line connection might precede the larger Radial Railway buildout as a first phase) -- this could almost be a shuttle service at times when demand is accelerated by Baseball Games, etc.
3. creating a flood mitigation wall along the river's edge between the Low Level Bridge and the Power Plant -- this would have to be artfully handled and could coincide with Gene Dub's concept for a "Touch the Water" promenade -- Street Cars plus Pedestrians. This would provide added protection for the Rossdale Community and for Gene Dub's proposed mid-rise apartment complex.
4. providing a broad-City connection for residents in the Rossdale residential community via Radial Railway Tram

connected to Muttart Station LRT

and thereby to the City at large.
5. fixing the road spaghetti network by converting roadways to tram routes, bike paths, and pedestrian ways in the area of the Low Level Bridge (my contention here is that there are too many vehicle options leading to confusion and a lack of direct vehicular connections -- the James Macdonald Bridge is capable of sorting that out without need of the Low Level Bridge which only adds to the confusion).
6. compelling development interest in the Rossdale community (groceterias, additional residential, delis, convenience stores, eateries, etc.)
7. connection to the Edmonton River Queen Dock.
8. enabling the plan for daylighting Mill Creek Ravine to proceed (as part of the whole Rossdale, Muttart flats, Mill Creek reno project).
9, future extension possibility to connect to the Funicular, Louise McKinney Park and to Riverdale Community (or even better a contiguous build-out as a single project).
10. a five star (maple leaf) tourist attraction --

.
11. renewed emphasis on alternative transportation possibilities -- most notably a revised and updated aerial tram connection between Whyte Avenue (Old Strathcona) and the Macdonald Hotel with stops at the Power Plant Building and RE/MAX Stadium.
12. impetus for increasing the capacity of RE/MAX stadium (without the added emphasis of increased parking.
13. an assist to a downtown Edmonton development impetus
14. a broadened City tax base.
