impressive!

Merrickville: A nice town...

Flar: Good pics of Merrickville with lots of good sturdy brick and stone construction there - I especially like pic#6 in the heart of town.
Is this a predominately English-speaking community?

Basically all the towns west of Ottawa are English, but there is a lot of French in the towns east along the Ottawa River (and also on the east side of Ottawa).

Merrickville...A nice old Ontario town...

Flar and WW: I looked at an Ontario map I have and I noticed that Merrickville
was near Smith's Falls - meaning that it would be indeed predominantly
an English-speaking community. South of Ottawa are most towns predominantly English as I now presume?

Going E of Ottawa in Ontario are those the communities (along Route 417)
that are mixed language-wise? Towns like Cornwall?

I do like older towns like Merrickville because they have so much more character then new-fangled sprawl with the McMansions any day!
