What I don't understand is what could produce this much smoke and flame on the roof of this building. It almost seems like a plane crashed into the roof.

Click on the thumbnail to enlarge, then click again on the image for full size.

Visible from St. Catherines...

They are showing some poorly formatted viewer photos on CP24: sideways, too small, out of focus etc. Why do they do this?

It looks like they have the fire under control.

Great photos DT! Much better than CP24's.

What is causing all of that smoke? It looks like the smoke from an oil or rubber fire.

That was my second thought, my first thought was a worse scenerio.

I sent them into CityTV but I guess they don't like me :(

Its 260 QQ... and it was a tar fire as they where tarring the roof. Some people believe they saw flames come out of a unit too.

to give people a better idea, this is the middle tower where the swiss chalet / raba / printing store / drug store / other little stores are.

They took the elevator to the top floor and used the fire cabinets to attach their hoses and put the fire out.
