Bay St. north of Queen has oodles of pedestrians and it's still dullsville... and MCC will likely not even reach Bay St.'s levels. Having 'x' number of pedestrians at any given time doesn't equate to a neighbourhood being vibrant, urban and pedestrian-friendly.

Just an FYI for Mississauga watchers, they started excavation at Ultra Ovation today....there is also a sign "Construction has Started"..this is the 4th and final stage of the Ovation project..

If pedestrians don't matter, then why keep pointing out the lack of pedestrians?

Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky-tacky,
Little boxes, little boxes,
Little boxes, all the same.
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.

And the people in the houses
All go to the university,
And they all get put in boxes,
Little boxes, all the same.
And there's doctors and there's lawyers
And business executives,
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.

And they all play on the golf-course,
And drink their Martini dry,
And they all have pretty children,
And the children go to school.
And the children go to summer camp
And then to the university,
And they all get put in boxes
And they all come out the same.

And the boys go into business,
And marry, and raise a family,
And they all get put in boxes,
Little boxes, all the same.
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.

Quite the picture - I'd say it's almost worthy of a modern/contemporary urban art exhibit. Is this on the far west side of MCC, towards Mavis/Burnhamthorpe?

thx for the kind words, Sean, but I can't agree, my pictures are strictly point-and-shoot amateur...:D

This is on the west side of MCC, if you count Hurontario as the dividing line, but there will be further-west developments as amacon ramp up for their Parkside Villlage project.

I feel sorry for the people in those detached houses, they have lost any privacy they may have had, with the highrises looking right down at their backyards.

That's one thing I found cool about that part of MCC; it's probably the closest to low rise housing, but there was never much NIMBYism when those buildings were proposed, and approved. And after all the Parkside Village consultations, it was interesting to see that the limited opposition didn't really come from the low risers to the west.

Oh! I see. Is that Riel Drive?

Sure, the quality isn't the greatest, but I'd suggest setting up a tripod and getting some real pics. I love how it captures the juxaposition.

It is Riel Drive...

I think that is kind of flawed planning that the tallest buildings are not on Burnhamthorpe but on Webb Drive instead, closer those houses.

That said, it is not a big deal. Almost all the people on my block still refuse to build a fence for their backyards after 3 years so I guess people don't really care that much. In completely a low-rise neighbourhood, backyards actually don't offer that much privacy anyways.

^ I also am a little puzzled over the privacy comment. Most people in high-rises with balconies have as much privacy on the balcony (unless you are on the lowest 2 - 3 floors) as the typical detached house these days. Backyards usually can be seen by people on both sides and several houses backing from the adjacent street (maybe sad, but true).

In Brampton, our house backed onto a park, so we never had to worry about privacy in the backyard. Shrubbery, patio umbrellas and a good tree cover can make a backyard quite private in the summer though.
