It's pretty goofy that this wasn't built up from the get-go, knowing this is one of the main centres for greenfield development. Still, it'll make it easier to get to the west end Costco, and that's alright with me.

Maybe the idea is that with the spread out growth we can upgrade infrastructure incrementally as the neighbourhoods grow? Two roads on the wish list would be 17 Street and 34 Street between Sherwood Park Freeway and Whitemud. This would make access to industrial land easier.

I think that's largely their thought process, and it would probably be an ok idea if they reacted quickly when the demand gets crazy. But they don't, and then these roads sit for 10 years drastically underbuilt. I know the whole "one lane will fix it!" thing, but single lane roads in these types of developments simply aren't enough, and while there'd still be traffic with twinned roads, it's more manageable and appropriate.

Highlights:

1.4.1 Option 1 – Construct Project as Proposed As described above, the expansion requires the relocation of existing utilities, addition of two traffic lanes,a new bridge crossing, and armouring and revegetating the banks of Whitemud Creek Ravine. Completing the expansion of Ellerslie Road in its proposed location satisfies the approved Windermere and Heritage Valley ASPs for the anticipated increase of traffic volume to already traffic congested area.

• Hwy 11 twinning from Benalto to Rocky Mountain House
• Hwy 43 twinning from Beaverlodge to the BC border
• Hwy 43/34 roundabout
• Hwy 28/37 roundabout
• Hwy 28A/37 roundabout

AB's Transportation Minister needs to spend less time worrying about bike lanes in Edmonton (which is a municipal issue) and more time devoted to these rural projects.

28/37 and 28a/37 round about should be proper separated interchanges. The traffic is to high for roundabout.

Why does the province not make it a priority to twin roads like Highway 28/63 to Fort McMurray?

Unfortunately high usage roads doesn't equate high priority. For example highway 3 from Fort McLeod to the B.C. border or at least until Pincher Creek has needed to be at least twinned for years.

Pretty sure funding for design was included in this years Provincial Capital budget. Not sure if from Spruce to Highway 60 or all the way to Winterburn Road

I would expect the Enoch Cree nation to chip in since Hwy 628 runs through their land. Lord knows how much bank they're making from their River Cree casino.
