Alberta introduces online tool aimed at speeding up home construction, cutting red tape
Alberta has launched a new online portal aimed at reducing housing construction delays, but some say the province needs to take more immediate action if they really want to fix the housing crisis.
The new Stop Housing Delays portal gives developers and local governments a space to report red tape and what they perceive as unnecessary building delays.

@Marcolangzi posted about this one prior at 11343 – 76 Avenue NW (McKernan). EDIT: demo of these houses was complete last year, but there was some sort of equipment on-site recently and there is some freshly moved soil on-site. Anyway hope construction commences sometime soon/in the new year.

I can't find the Old RAM thread (luddite here, apologies), but there's an exciting P3 proposal to save the old RAM, involving Beljan. There should be some public news about it as soon as today. It would require the UCP to finish the abatement but not proceed to demolition, which may not happen. But at least there is some hope.

The City of Edmonton is offering total of 11 Surplus School Sites for developing affordable housing developments. The sites range from 1 to 1.41 hectares in size, and are zoned Medium Residential RM h16 and h23. Following sites are available in:
Successful applicants will be required to obtain the development and building permits by September 2026, with construction to follow. All submissions must clearly outline their development timelines and meet the September 2026 development and building permit deadline.
