Canadian Blood Services to move into a space at 5814 51 Ave NW (just down the road from the new Valley Line LRT OMFs). Does anyone know if this is instead of moving to Whitemud Crossing?

It must be a lab because their donor centre recently relocated from the U of A to Whitemud Crossing and is now operational.

This is an underrated area for walks/bike rides. The old campground down in Blackmud creek is a fun place to explore.

And full of encampments causing the area a lot of issues.

The more development in the area, the better.

Not trying to take away from other areas of the City where this is an issue too but we've had a lot of issues lately with break-ins and fires being set in the ravine.

Really? I'm not surprised....as I have seen a ton of homeless "Fentanyl Hunchers," on or around 99th st and the south side...seems like a weird locale....but maybe the bottle depots around there. I actually reported to "311" that - I am NOT kidding - a group of them were living "BESIDE the RAIL TRACKS" just off of Gateway and 34th ave. Literally living in the ditch just off the rail road ties...

The project will see the construction of a 42 unit apartment building that will span four floors, located at 15521 - 93A Avenue, Edmonton, near the Valley Line West LRT leg. A building permit was issued by the City of Edmonton on April 25, 2025.

This will literally be massive, not only needed-wise but size wise. I saw a blurb on YYC TV about theirs just being expanded to 94 units - ours will be bigger.

Last I heard they were unable to secure the needed provincial funding, which was around half. I think the federal funds have expired now.
