From the Ski Club's website:

We are grateful to be the recipients of funding from the Government of Canada's Green and Inclusive Community Buildings Program, the City of Edmonton and the Province of Alberta, for a total of $12 million, toward the construction of the new River Valley Outdoor Activity Centre, a year-round, net-zero carbon building.
Well that's exciting!

One of the townhomes in the iconic Chancery Lane condominums is for sale.

Jeez, my number is popping up a fair bit lately -- I designed these for Jeff (last name escapes me for the moment -- Principal at Edmonton properties back in the 1970s). His last name may be Summers -- I haven't thought of him in years. Shortly after this reno upgrade he moved lock, stock and barrel to Vancouver.

OK, I guess some people associate that building with skiing. But where is the fireplace? Good ski chalets come with a fireplace. Why not move the firepits from downtown where they are not needed to the ski hill where they make sense to locate.

Woke up at 3:00 a.m. and remembered Jeff's last name -- 'twas Jeff Devins (not Summers) and then this morning looking him up on line, sadly, I found this:

Jeffrey Devins Obituary

Jeffrey Devins April 18, 1949 - January 14, 2017 It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jeffrey Parker Devins on January 14, 2017. Born in Winnipeg on April 18, 1949 to Sandra and Martin Devins, Jeff was the second of three children. He grew up in Edmonton, where he later met and married his best friend and the love of his life, Vera, and where their three children, Jennifer, Joshua, and Melissa, were born. The family moved to Vancouver in 1986.

Jeff was devoted to his family, his friends, and his community. He was selfless and kind, and was unabashedly proud of his family. He was always quick to talk about his wife, kids, or grandkids to anyone who would listen. He was generous with his time and his resources, spending thousands of hours acting as a mentor and friend to so many and volunteering with numerous organizations. He led by example.

Jeff is survived by his beloved wife Vera, his children Jennifer, Joshua (Sabine), and Melissa (Andrew), his sister Reva (Stephen) and brother Sheldon (Pam), and his grandchildren Elijah, Abigail, Luisa, Mateo, Cohen, as well as his extended family and countless friends. He is gone too soon and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

A remembrance of Jeff's life will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 2pm at the Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club (4300 S.W. Marine Dr., Vancouver). In lieu of flowers, we ask that those who want to honour Jeff do so through a project that was close to his heart, The YMCA of Greater Vancouver Nanook House. Arrangements can be made by contacting Baily Molotsky at (604) 622-4958, or baily.molotsky@gv.ymca.ca or via https://gv.ymca.ca/inmemory.

Anyway, I meant to say that the idea to renovate and uplift the little row of (run-down at the time) townhouses and convert them to condos with a little style and panache was all Jeff Devins; I was happy to be part of his vision.
Nice to hear a bit of the story behind these interesting and unique condos and the fellow who helped bring this about. It is good to have something like this as part of his legacy.

50-300 years from now, Edmontonians might look to Skyrise archives for part of the history of our city, truly. So keep sharing @archited!

Once again, so much density and no transit to serve it. We need the capital line to be doing the next 3 stations as part of the current extension.

Why do we wait until an area is populated and costlier to build in? Letting more people be impacted by the construction…

Meanwhile we have an unopened station at blatchford and 0 density there…

I am quite sure the city will protect the alignment for the LRT so whether not not it is built up it won’t matter
