Great pics... but are those functioning water fountains I see? Parks with grass? Plantings that look maintained? Where are all the hydro poles and wires, you know all the great character?... and please tell me you deliberately avoided taking photos that might show the potholes/broken sidewalks and shabby infrastructure that according to some in the 'shabby public realm' Montreal is so famous for!!

MM: Excellent group of Montreal neighborhood pictures!!!
I really like the wide use of brick and stone and the solidly built rowhouses and buildings...

I notice the wide use of open tread staircases and I remember how the spiral versions stood
out discovering how widely that they were used back in the 80s when I traveled to Montreal...

When i am looking at these pictures above, all i am thinking about is life in this houses must be comfortable.particularly those open tread staircases ,i love this design very much.

I wouldn't want to deal with the stairs in a snowy winter--I imagine there would be a lot of sweeping and salting.

My best friend lived in the Plateau for 10 years back in the 90's. Such a great neighborhood. I loved to visit him and did so often - even in winter when one is only as good as ones longjohns.
