But a big weakness for him is he is an incumbent running when there is a strong anti incumbent feeling. This might be a good time for some former city councilor who can appeal to a range of people to run, someone who has been away from the mess things have become over the last few years.

Yes, and opposed to the south extension, too. He advocates for BRTs.
He says he will be running on a team/party so it will be interesting to see the make-up of that and if any current councillors would be part of that - I could only see Hamilton and Principe (if either of them plan to run again). Not sure that he would ask Rice to be part of his group.
