Zara at Square One looking like it’s set to double in size by taking the lower level (assuming they are keeping the upper level, anyway).

Chinese tea drink company HEYTEA opened up a new location at 505 Yonge recently. Despite being ~2 weeks after opening we still had to wait 45 minutes just to order with the line going outside and down Yonge, and busy enough that they were not taking online delivery orders at all. Expensive, but honestly probably good enough boba to warrant the cost. Chain currently has locations in Vancouver, Burnaby, and the Yonge location. Presumably Markham/Richmond Hill/North York will be next on the list.

LOL I waited in line for 45 mins with my partner yesterday as they opened a new location recently near Midland and Finch in Scaboro. They had a BOGO drink special going on

Isabella's Mochi Donuts

Haven't tried yet......... opinions?

, Uncle Tetsu

Not a cheesecake person.

, Jerk King

I'll take any reviews on this one too.

and Bourbon St Grill are opening at the Yonge Eglinton Centre

This is corporate chain stuff.......but ya know, its not that bad.........the green beans are frozen.....which is sad, but they are boldly garlicky. The potatoes are decent.

The Blackened chicken shows good seasoning and technique.........unfortunately...the underlying chicken is rather mediocre. (ie. badly trimmed, big lumps of inedible fat and connective tissue)

Jerk King is pretty solid for a local indie chain. They have by far the best beef patties I've ever had. That said, once I discovered Roywood's (5 minute walk from work!), I much prefer their jerk chicken because it's boneless, so hassle free and utterly delicious.

Wow BOGO! We did not have that when we went. Saw the line for that Midland store and it looked identical to downtown.

Also tried the new Molly Tea on Yonge and it was great, too. HungryPanda had an activation out front for prizes and gifts.

I've had Isabella's Mochi Donuts once. I like mochi and donuts so I found the concept good. Not something that I'd go for all the time. But I do like how this franchise is not so "in your face" with their marketing like the Marry Me Mochi chain is.

I find the Uncle Testu cheesecake chain to be passé but I guess there's still a market for it. I still remember when they first opened over a decade ago in the building where I used to work and the crowds going gaga over it with like 2 hour lineups. The product is underwhelming IMO though.

Jerk King is good. Fairly reasonable price and they give large portion sizes.

Interesting that the Yonge Street location can draw lineups without a BOGO promotion. I find the quality of tea itself to be better at Molly Tea. Chicha San Sen, with locations in Chinatown and Ossington, was good too.
