All things considered, even the podium is truly "bad" only if you're a hardcore Brutalist-hater. But next to the recent galloping retro-schlock nearby, it's practically serene--indeed, it's miraculous that the Skylon podium has survived 40+ years without itself being retro-schlocked and de-Brutalized beyond recognition.
Basically, we're talking about an unsung Expo-era architectural landmark--relatively speaking, it'd be akin to no-nonsense Clewes/Teeple modernism invading the tourist district today. Now, if Skylon management could really milk that 60s-space-age-modern theme to the max, all that so-called minus could wind up as a plus, in the end...
