So here's a snap of the vision that NorQuest is delivering. The blue scribbled circle is the site of the former Calder Bateman building. It's the first part of an east-west oriented campus quad that will provide visibility into the campus from 109 Street. The quad will be completed as part of the next major capital project (and namesake for this thread) Careers Skills Centre. This all seems disjointed for now, but as I referenced above - NorQuest wasn't built in a day, and neither will their plans for campus expansion.

I still don't understand the SE Corner concrete thingy...? Are they trying to give shelter for nighttime sleepers? a nice glass corner would be fine.
Right?? Such a good looking building overall but that's an extremely strange unnecessary design blunder that really won't help that corner at all

Okay folks... Slow down. The building is not yet designed, so don't get hung up on what kind of bird is sitting on the parapet and whether or not that particular barn swallow is indigenous to Northern Alberta. Relax. Most of you know how projects work. Trust the process...

It has been planned to meet a 2030 growth projection so it is real!
Those growth projections are significantly out of date, unfortunately, and need to be recalibrated in light of the cuts to international. Their domestic base will not compensate for the loss of international students.

This building is still very much planned, but the college is facing headwinds (and forthcoming layoffs) just like the other post-secondary institutions that rely heavily on international funding.
