Wonder if they got a good deal...They are heavy-duty road freight power, so no, there is no onboard power generation capability.

Consider the pre-election timing. This is absolutely about the Northlander.More GO transit refurbishment contracts?
Look who is all attending, and consider the pre-election timing. This is absolutely about the Northlander.
... so an election promise to continue to promise.....It's not as if the Northlander will suddenly start running again. The proposed "Timmins" station (at the far end of Porcupine) isn't anywhere near construction start. It would likely be an announcement of detailed planning and design work to follow the initial planning.
Or that it will start running again, to it's previous terminus. It's not as if the Northlander will suddenly start running again. Timmins has already been announced and it would be highly unlikely they would re-start service to Cochrane only to take it away, again. If I recall correctly, earlier announcements said service would re-start first from Toronto-North Bay.Or that it will start running again, to it's previous terminus.
I could see this as the pre election goodie that today's announcement will be about. If I recall correctly, earlier announcements said service would re-start first from Toronto-North Bay.
