I wish they'd retained the centre median and didn't add as many lanes... Building transit and adding 2 extra lanes each way seems a bit counterintuitive to me...

Late to the party with this one but why in god’s name did we lose this bus lane? I was but a child when they removed it so I have no recollection of that and I always thought it was unfortunate but just a fact of space constraints that the 109 st bus lane doesn’t go down the hill… so hard to defend this city sometimes

Such a small thing makes a huge difference. I drove this almost daily, and it's made nearly no difference in my daily commute since it's been gone. Let's turn more unnecessary roads into green space.

We live a block away and use that SUP all. the. time. It's made cycling in the area that much nicer and any added greenery is always a good thing.

From the City website.
The City of Edmonton is currently working with the City of Harbin and Edmonton’s Chinese community on the design of the new gate. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2025 and be completed in 2026.
Now I with that said I will believe it when I see work begin.
