How many Casino's do we need? My prediction is that in the next 20 years most of them will be shutting down as society moves on from Casino gaming.
If they'll be shutting down, it won't be because of society moving on from casino gaming; it'll be because of casino gaming moving on-line. Same fate that's befallen dead tree newspapers and bricks-and-mortar retail. (Indeed, a lot of Ontario's casino slots exist because society moved on from betting on the horses--they're cash cows for what would otherwise be dinosaur operations.)
Incidentally, never mind Las Vegas; if you want to reflect on the mixed urban blessings of casinos (and their irrationality in "prime waterfront locations"), consider Atlantic City.
