Wow, even the symbolism of marching in Pride Parades can't be commended anymore.:(
It's highly commendable, for altruistic reasons, not manipulative attention getting ones. So if Ford's 'commendable' behaviour is so outstanding, why would he not announce it beforehand?

Is he a public figure or not? Or was this a 'private' affair? Please, answer the latter, cuz he's in a lot more shid if it is.

People like John Tory and Patrick Brown have supported the LGBT community and marched in Pride on a regular basis.
Consistently and without controversy. Is it good politics? Of course it is, it's beyond their personal altruism, but in a positive, encompassing way. For all I hold Tory to account for, he is a good, well-meaning man.

Ford is just toxic, something many Cons, but not all, are now realizing. Some Cons can't bring themselves to admit the nature of the beast.

And remember that in some ways, this isn't so much relative to Pride Toronto as it's relative to the Raptors parade, and his statement relative to the same.

It's almost like as Ontario Premier, he'd much rather be York Region Chair.

Premier Doug Ford marched alongside police in the York Region Pride parade Saturday — surprising organizers of the event.

“York Pride was not aware Mr. Ford was attending or marching in our parade today,” they said in a statement to the Star. “We found out that the premier was attending from news agencies calling York Pride for statements.”

York Pride 'had no idea' Ford was coming

Organizers of the York Region Pride Parade say they were not told Premier Doug Ford would be marching with them. Video at link.

I think that if they *were* told or had an idea, that would have run the risk of word quickly getting around and people coming armed with milkshakes.

Nigel Farage milkshake madness continues in Britain

lol...you obviously read the UK press. "We're only making plans for Nigel". I don't think Doog will be announcing any public outings for some time.
So he crashed the party! Class move (not)
It gives new meaning to the phrase "Gay Abandon" as to Drug's effects.

Once he is finished running Toronto (which may be never) he'll move on to other municipalities to interfere with. The governance review should act as a guide. The province is just the sandbox where his toys are.

However, York Region's "friendly territory". And even in the event of interference, he's got a higher quotient of "Colonel Sanders chicken" constituents there.

Did this parade have any men running down the middle of Yonge St. buck naked ?

That's a rather Victorian attitude toward nudity - besides you seem to have no trouble having a crackhead mayor in a Christmas parade ?

What symbolism should we draw from someone who joins last in a party when a good amount of hard work had been done? The parade isn't about his enlightened attitudes - showing up at Pride as a demonstration of that for a Politico had sailed long ago. If you want it to be about you - join the fight, not hanging by coattails - and quite frankly, his party had a track record of consistently putting up road blocks to LGBT rights even to this date.

AoD

Definitely a good move for him. Conservatism is more common than people think within LGBT groups. Let it be reminded that so many gay men in "progressive" Toronto thought BLM had no place in the pride and police in uniform should be included.
