You don't need to have nice things.. you just need to get a fair deal and make america great again...
It does suggest though in addition of giving us further reasons why we would never join them...that they really don't want us in the first place. So they get nothing.

...in the meantime, let's hope that America will go back to being saner in our lifetimes.

Why is nobody in Canada calling Trump's bluff and saying, "ok sure, we're interested in joining, tough guy - how much are you offering?" and then sit back and watch as Trump hilariously tries to convince Republicans in Congress that they should admit 42 million new automatic Democratic voters into the union... 😂

I would be more concerned (but not surprised), if they started burning the books inside for ideological reasons.

That said, it boggles my mind how the GOP lets this go on. You would think that by now, someone would have said or done something.
First they came for the undocumented migrants, and I did not speak out...

Wonder if they'll build a "Berlin Wall" on the American side of the border through the library?
To your point, a tweet by a former U.S. senate staffer today....

What I don't get about this is they are closing the door on our side., could we just legislate it back open? I mean, if it was the door on their side I would understand why we couldn't do anything about it. But if they're closing it our side on our side of the border, we could rule it back open again. And hope we don't go to war over a stupid library door... >.<

The town will have to spend money to build a door and ramp on the Canadian side to be able to access the library without having to detour through customs. A GoFundMe page has been created.

Trump says Canada only works because of the USA. I was thinking about how imbedded the US is in our economy and daily lives, and how most of our chain restaurants are US owned, such as US-owned RBI Tim Hortons (Brazil owns about 30%, the rest is US), how even the brands made in Canada are US owned, from Kellogg’s to Coca Cola to Ford and GM. I wonder what my monthly purchases would look like if I eschewed any product, food or beverage that was a US-owned subsidiary, including those produced in Canada. Is Trump right, that the US is so embedded in Canada?

Trump is describing the current situation. He’s just using very blunt and unrestrained language. His bluster is over the top but he’s a dementia ridden angry narcissist.

Canada is already a defacto 51st pseudo state. We are at the mercy of the U.S. economy because almost 80% of our exports go south. Our products and supply chains are inter-twinned. Our culture and entertainment is basically the same (NHL, NBA, music, etc…). Our defence is solely at the mercy of the U.S.

Economically Canada is a branch plan economy for the U.S. Except for our banks, insurance, a few oil and mining ,3 telcos and 1 major IT (Shopify), most every large company here is foreign headquartered with the majority being U.S.

So we should be calling them The Great Province of America instead then? 🙀

Trump would have work out something with his party to remain as Preems though, as he would be unfit for the job of LG with a criminal record and all...

I'd be more concerned that the US, despite all of its might and expenditure, can't really win wars any more. We shouldn't be dependent on them, but not for the reason you imply.

If you look at the ten largest employers by number in Canada, all but one (Walmart) are Canadian-based, Canadian-owned, Canadian by origin corporation.
