Heck, walk around the street and one can see "loaded" messages, albeit gift-wrapped, everywhere you care to look. Sexual suggestion is hardly something exclusive to Pride, if the summer clevage season is any sign.

Yes, but that isn't "branded" in the same way that Pride is.

IOW these kinds of arguments, I agree, are ultimately as asinine as those mouth-breathers who say "yeah, Gay Pride--what about Straight Pride? Shouldn't we be parading and celebrating, too? Why must you have special rights etc etc"

IOW I'll betcha that your kids are more likely to shock you with "aberrant" behaviour than ours, simply because you're setting up a stage for them to shock you from...

I have kids? Why didn't someone tell me?

Oh the horrors! Children getting a glimpse of full frontal nudity!! If only I didnt see those naked ladies in the change room at the local pool as a kid I would be a normal functioning breeder in Whitby with two snot nosed brats and a pit bull instead of a permanently scarred cat loving lesbian in Cabbagetown!

Thanks for bringing up the "change room" thing. And heck, I'll betcha these days even change rooms in suburban Whitby can offer body-decoration spectacles that can match anything in Pride. And double heck, these days it may be the kids' own parents offering such spectacles. (Think of it. How many young parents do you see these days with Pam'n'Tommy-calibre adornments? Certainly a lot more than a generation ago. If they're not embarrassed about looking that way in front of their own children, well...)

Change rooms are a good example how society currently makes no sense. Conservative parents will hide nudity like a sin from their kids but then send their kids to the swimming pool where people of all ages are naked in the change room. When you consider the existence of gays and lesbians in society... does it even make sense to separate men and women's change rooms and washrooms? Maybe society needs to show everyone nudity so they can get it out of their system and realize there is nothing to it.

I have often wondered if a conservative that covers themselves from head to toe so as not to sexually attract a member of the opposite sex, would walk around nude if veil and long dress sex was a huge public fetish and top selling porn, like the school uniform thing is in Japan.

Along similar lines of thought, I have wondered if the people against gay marriage are against XY-chromosome carriers marrying XYs, penis carriers marrying penis carriers, or what it is. For example, in the opinion of anti gay marriage folks, who can a Klienfelters syndrome XXY marry? What about a XY and XX marriage where the XX is a transsexual which now has male features... can they get married? What about a XY transsexual and an XX transsexual... that would make it an XX XY marriage with an unoriginal penis and an unoriginal vagina marriage but they were originally penis and vagina carriers... is that permitted by the conservatives? It is all so confusing.

Morals which are not based on protecting people from harm, protecting animals from harm, protecting the environment from harm, protecting property from harm, and protecting the economy from harm are morals I don't fully comprehend.

You never know what a covered penis is up to. But when it's exposed, you always know what it's up to (or not).

"What about a XY transsexual and an XX transsexual... "

As long as they can agree on which one's the bride and which one's the groom?

EnviroTO - Do you mind if I have sex with your gf behind closed doors? ;)

Of course I would mind. What does that have to do with the discussion? Are you XXY?

The law should allow you to have sex with my wife if my wife is in agreement with it. But I also have the right to divorce my wife if I don't find her to be the right person for me... which would be the case if she is having sex with you. I don't see anything immoral about my wife having sex with you... but I definitely see it as a sign of disrespect towards me and my relationship with her.

Yanni,

are you being sarcastic?
No he's not. This is the same guy that said money shouldn't go towards AIDS research as it is a self-inflicted ailment and that money is better spent on cancer and more important diseases.

Moving on...I've been going to Pride since 1996 and I think I saw a penis once in 1999 and the odd breast every other year. The fact that public nudity is a small part of Pride can certainly be debated, but it's such an incredibly small part of the proceedigs that I think people here are making far too great a deal about it.

Pride is a fantastic party and should I ever have kids I'd have absolutely no quams about taking them to Pride...nudity or not.

Are we seriously having this argument about very young children being allowed to see full fronty nudity when its otherwise heavily curtailed in everyday life ?

How exactly do you explain this to little suzie?

That while its ok to see men display their privates in a parade on Yonge street or women to bare their breasts likewise, once the parade ends, they have to understand that now its not ok!

Talk about mixed signals.

Very young children shouldn't be exposed to this until they are either old enough to understand what it is they are witnessing or just leave them at home to begin with.

And can someone please explain why some in the gay community feel that the best way to express their sexuality is to walk naked? Even some of my gay friends can't explain it.

I've been to Pride and had no problem with the nudity. If I had kids and I had a problem with them seeing the nudity I just wouldn't bring them along.

No difference then not letting your kids watch the Soprano's/Rambo or any adult show or movie.

I suspect kids see a lot of things they don't understand. Like trees. Or cats. Or....

I don't see anything immoral about my wife having sex with you...
I like you. In fact you can come home and **** my sister if I can have sex with your wife. :p
