Is there a specific issue with this one? Why doesn't it takes so long?
Still one the concrete slab for months?

Will this be the new tallest in dt core? Just what is the height limit in core? Seems 30 stories is the cutoff. Does this represent a new allowance going fwd?

All buildings within the downtown core are subject to NCC Height plane. its based off of 17ish viewpoints that they picked a billion years ago. There is surprisingly little info on calculating where it is based off of your buildings location within the core. you usually have to extrapolate points within its inward slope going towards parliament.
here is a link to the NCC's file:

Hopefully that helps for the age old question.
EDIT: not all building within the core, just a whole bunch of them/ City of Ottawa has general design guidelines for how they want Centertown to develop

Can you imagine if Dream Lebreton lit the outlines of the sloped roofs? That would be absolutely epic and iconic, like the Crain Communications building diamond shaped roof in Chicago.
Let's hope they do light the sloped roofs on the Dream project. The Renaissance will have the sloped roof on the amenity/mechanical portion illuminated.

There's another amenity floor planned on top? I know the hotel and apartments are sharing a full floor midway up.
Yes, the 17th floor will have the pool and gym that is shared by both the hotel and apartments, and the now confirmed 36th floor by OBC standards, will be an amenity floor for the apartments that comes with an amazing outdoor space.

We're up to 36 floors now?

Count me as another huge fan of PdV C. We were lucky to have someone like Robert Campeau pushing for more height, otherwise the entire CBD and Centretown would probably have been demolished for mediocre mid-rises.

For sure though, happy we'll get a few towers competing. The modern designs will also offer a great contrast.

If done well, this building could be an amazing landmark for Ottawa.

Should we give IBI some credit for the architecture? GeigeHuot took their design and made it their own.

Yes for sure IBI deserves credit. Geiger Huot had a solid design to work with. Some changes were made that are good and some that may not be so good. South elevation has less precast than first planned but the north elevation will have have a bit more due to having two separate elevator shafts for the hotel and residential portion which created a solid section of wall on that side. I will share some updated elevations once they are confirmed.
