I know this isn't downtown, but Origin North at Bayview Village has closed and their website is now redirecting to their King Street location.

The Potbelly Stove Sandwich is opening on Yonge (just north of King) on 12 October. http://www.potbelly.ca/ I ate (and ate well) at their branch in Detroit in August so am looking forward to seeing if they have managed to translate their brand to Toronto tastes.

I strongly recommend the Italian, and remember to get hot peppers.

As per a SIR Corp. press release, their Far Niente, Four and Petit Four restaurants (all in Commerce Court at 187 Bay) will be closing at the end of the month, due to a dispute over lease renewal terms.

Edit: actually closing this Saturday, then vacating by end of month.

Sounds like the owners of Commerce Court weren't trying too hard to keep them, likely have someone else waiting in the wings.

Saw this coming. Heard from a source that the space was way too big - not only that, there were some issues within the establishment.

The Halal Guys coming to Yonge and Wellesley in the former Sugar Mountain space:

I've always been anti-halal .. won't eat it nor will I eat at a place that serves it!

They sell Halal chicken in my local No Frills and it is FAR better chicken than the other kinds they have - more flavour and cheaper.
