In case anyone missed it, barricades were installed last week blocking the entrance to the new surface parking lot at the northeast corner of Playter and Danforth. It apparently violated the City's zoning, site plan and licensing by-laws.

According to the City's Building Dept website, permit applications have been submitted to convert the old Bargain World at 189 Danforth to a Del La Mer. Which I assume to be this fish market: http://www.delamer.ca/

ETA: Yep. This future location even has its own Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/De-la-mer-Fresh-Fish-Market-Danforth/720615288045954

that's great.
the quicker they get rid of those old dirty cheap dollar stores, the better.
at least the new breed of dollar stores like bulk barn, dollarama, etc are clean

Neighbourhood Consultation

RTWG - January 22nd Meeting Update
At a meeting last week, the Riverdale Traffic Working Group laid out the following key dates for moving forward with our neighbourhood consultation:
On Friday, February 27th we will be publishing on http://www.myriverdale.ca the draft traffic calming plan that will be the basis of our neighbourhood consultation. We invite you to spend some time during the month of March reviewing our proposed plan and providing feedback.
A public consultation one evening of the week of April 6th will follow. We will email you the final date and time once the RTG secures an appropriate venue. At that meeting we will review our proposal then give you a further opportunity to ask questions and tell us what you think of it.
In the meantime, we encourage you to review the statistics provided by the City of Toronto and Councillor Paula Fletcher’s office at http://www.myriverdale.ca/statistics to help understand why some of your neighbours have come together in the first place. We have requested additional traffic surveys for out of date and missing figures.
If you’d like to see who has been volunteering their evenings over the last 24 months to research the issues and potential solutions, meet the group at http://www.myriverdale.ca/members.
We would love to hear what you think. You can contact us anytime at http://www.myriverdale.ca/contact.
Thank you for your interest in making our neighbourhood safer,
The Riverdale Traffic Group

Has anyone heard anything further on this?

Wow. That myriverdale.ca site is awful. Lots of lovely web design, but difficult to find the content. The note above says they would be posting the draft traffic calming plan on Feb 27, but I couldn't find it on the site. Did I just miss it?

Thanks for confirming. That's brutal. If they are running late, they should remove references to February 27 on the site.

Yeah - we posted that letter earlier in this thread. I can't imagine they are the same recommendations (if they are, it's unclear what the working group has been doing for the past year). Having said that, I suspect that the ideas that Fletcher asked be examined in her 2014 letter will be among those that the working group looked at.

Ultimately, who knows. Until the working group deigns to share its plan with the community, we have no idea what they are proposing.

I've been asking around about this - and I've heard that the traffic group formed after the residents on langley between Logan and Carlaw asked to switch the direction of that section of Langley to be for eastbound travel to prevent traffic on carlaw from using Langley to cut through the neighbourhood. The city rejected the proposal since it would just add more volume to other neighbourhood streets and requested that the neighbourhood form a working group to form a more comprehensive solution

There is a banner on the old Patty and Frank's location saying that something called "Eggies Bistro" is opening soon. There is an image of an egg, so no need to guess what they'll be serving.

Thanks, riverdaler. You read my mind - I was wondering about the timing of that report just this past weekend.

Messini is apparently expanding into the next door space formerly occupied by Kritamos. Sorry, Ex-Montreal Girl.

792 Carlaw, which for sometime was home to the Before & After hair salon (which moved to Pape Village) and then subsequently home to a very short-lived successor hair salon, is being renovated for a coffee shop. It's actually a good location - visible from the Danforth and some good patio space in front.
