I just thought I'd drop this here:

From:
Why this is of note, in my mind...................for those unaware, Brian Ashton is a former Metro Toronto Councillor...................

He was always moderate, centrist, and represented the Bluffs area of Scarborough.

When his take is ...............as above............I feel like the needle is moving.

^Not necessarily. Many moderates both right and left have moved away from the centre over the last 20-30 years. That being said, the needle has certainly moved, but in the wrong direction in many areas (not saying this is the case with transit).

I sent Bradford an email about that (he's my councillor). That's incredibly disappointing. He voted against a motion to produce a report on how much has been spent to date on the Gardiner (and what is left to be spent). That's bordering anti-democratic. The public deserves to be informed. Even if it's his view that the Gardiner should still be rebuilt, hiding behind withholding information is bad. I would prefer he, and Tory/others, defend their position publicly rather than through tactics like that.
Good luck actually getting a reasonable response from him or his office. I actually find him to be very disappointing as a Council member.

He's good at the big stuff. He's not so good on an individual basis the way that his two predecessors were. Ironically this was Rob Ford's strength.

They are almost finished the top deck sealing. I’m assuming they will pave this section when the temperatures are more seasonable. Then they can open up the new Jarvis on-ramp and split the traffic to the outer lanes and complete the centre medium next. Then on to the next Gardiner construction bottleneck.

It's been sitting like this for over 3 months with minimal progress since November. It's almost like everything stopped. They were supposed to reopen Jarvis on-ramp at the end of January (later moved to end of Feb). It's still closed.

The centre medium has been almost completed for some time now (it's hiding behind that tarped fence.

They made good progress initially, and could've easily opened entire thing before 2021. But everything just suddenly slowed down to a crawl (despite having minimal snow in later part of Nov/Dec).

Thanks

The centre medium is movable but I’m not sure if that is permanent. Temporary is less safe. Is there a new wall behind this?

They paved the east section after the on ramp on Nov 10.

Maybe they couldn’t figure out where the extra parts were to be installed?

Weather in January was probably better than planned but I’m sure they didn’t plan on heating the road to seal the surface.
Lights installed.

Probably no rush if the asphalt plants are closed?

Scheduled to open on Monday or Tuesday
Yeah.... Nothing was done this weekend despite perfect weather. All the signs pointing to tomorrow's re-opening were clearly not true...

Edit Mar 29th: The sign change re-opening date to Apr 30th. They were also putting top asphalt layer today.

Paving was completed over the last two days. More temporary barriers were just delivered. Line painting was prepared for the eastern (not western) portion late last week.

Traffic patterns should be changing in the next few days. This section would be perfect for some Kramer lanes.

What does that mean?

Seinfeld reference. Kramer adopts a mile of highway - “mile 114” and paints his section of the highway with wider lanes. 2 vs 4 lanes. Traffic chaos.
