The police have no power to force any person to agree to be interviewed. They can take someone into custody for questioning, but the person can decline to cooperate (there is a right to remain silent). The only time a person can come close to being subjected to a kind of compulsion to speak is if they are subpoenaed - and even then a person can chose to remain silent at the cost of being penalized for contempt.
 
So what if Ford takes a 'Leave of Absence'. What then? How does that play out?

Would he be back again in a month talking about saving taxpayer's money and denying any wrongdoing?

In my opinion people should demand his resignation OR that he comes clean about everything and gives a very thorough version of his story instead of constantly running away.

I can't think of many well-remunerated jobs where he'd be allowed to keep his position after what he has done. Way to emulate the private sector, Rob.
 
Come clean now that there is clear evidence of wrongdoing? Sorry, the nature of his transgressions are a bit too serious considering his role in government. Quit, or be destroyed.

The CBC said that the people mentioned by Mayor (at end of email "very alarming allegations") were Josh Colle and Anna Bailao.

The email sheds new light on a night that has been widely reported about. On March 17, 2012, Ford spent an hour in a private room at the popular Bier Markt lounge on the Esplanade.


Several staffers have told the Star that the mayor appeared impaired at the time he arrived. Ford was eventually escorted out by security, although bar owner Robert Medal has said that isn’t true and that Ford was “an exemplary guest.”


According to the email, Ford had been in his office with friends before leaving for the bar.


The author of the email, a former security officer at city hall, Davood Mohammadi, continues that “due to the nature of the incident with the mayor, we will not be submitting any reports.”


Mohammadi wrote that Ford was “quite pleasant” with security, but that he was upset with others around that night. The names of those individuals have been redacted. “On a couple occasions (Ford) started to yell and swear ‘f--k this guy,” ‘f--k you’, etc” and made some very alarming allegations regarded (blacked out).”

He was drunk at the time, I would not be surprised if the allegations are sexual in nature.

You have no idea how angry I am at his behaviour at our city hall - it makes a mockery of what is arguably a "sacred" space. He should go f*ck around back in Etobicoke.

is it possible that the police probe wasn't botched? without knowing more i'm inclined to agree with ruby. but, is it possible that there's another project whatever that is going on, or went on, that covered all the times rob was "left to run"? i.e. was / is there another surveillance team specifically following rob? and would or could they then be a separate project?

This makes for interesting reading but I don't see any impropriety unless people think there is something wrong about drinking on city property. If that is the case the Toronto Star might want to check out Police Headquarters because they have a fully-stocked self-serve bar reserved for the exclusive use of Bill Blair and his senior brass. This was reported on by the SUN last year. How do we know that Chief Blair or some of his top brass are not getting drunk during the day at work? (Blair often looks shit-faced at TPS board meetings). Of course don't look to the Toronto Star to investigate Bill Blair. He is a god in their eyes who can do no wrong.

I assume that Project Traveler is still ongoing, and that Ford was caught on wiretap or whatever in that operation. Remember, Traveler stuff is still under wraps, and this other investigation was focused solely on actions around the crack video. Blair is always careful with his words and never implied that Ford was completely off the hook.
 
Nice try Peepers - serving alcohol does not equate to getting drunk, much less behaving in a manner that is inappropriate. As much as I have misgivings about Blair, this thread is about Ford. Don't change the channel like you have attempted to umpteen times already.
