The George Demos political ad containing a picture of Mayor Rob Ford - 3
It's also an ad that says he's not a politician (??????) and that he will never vote to raise taxes (you have to raise taxes if only to keep up with inflation).
With all this local nonsense, I'd almost forgotten how grateful I am this is not the USA.
FCG: I have discovered that George Demos is a challenger that is to the right of the "Establishment" Republican
candidate for the nomination to face Tim Bishop in New York's 1st Congressional District on eastern Long Island...
George Demos is running with the support of the Tea Party wing of the Republican Party against NYS Senator
Lee Zeldin who has the support of the main body of the Republican Party in a coming primary election before
the 2014 elections next fall...
I have learned that with the dismal popularity ratings of the current US House of Representatives that some
candidates will say that they are not politicians and with the mention of taxes many Republicans take the
Grover Norquist anti-tax pledge to get support from the GOP's right wing element which as you note is a pledge
that can almost never be kept with inflation one easy reason just for starters...
I feel that many folks are fed up with the stranglehold that the Tea Party wing of the Republican Party has
over the entire House and it has started an internal conflict in the GOP between the mainstream "Establishment"
and the Tea Party element for control of the GOP and I feel that if the Democrats can fix the Obamacare
problem by the middle of 2014 they may be able to win a majority and take control of the US House because
of the "stranglehold" that the GOP and the Tea Party wing in particular has held with their majority.
US national politics have become very divisive since the Tea Party has come to power and its goal of being
against anything that President Barack Obama supports and their blatant obstructionism has turned many
folks against their style of "divide and conquer" and there needs to be change in 2014 and beyond...
There is an advantage in Canada with a three-party system-and what may happen in the US if there is a
possibility of a third party it would be the far right wing element of the Tea Party and Religious conservatives
as a base group that would separate itself from the GOP and would probably become a home for the "lunatic
fringe" types that feel alienated away from the mainstream establishment of the GOP. The left-leaning group
of "Progressives" could also form another party but they get along much better inside the Democratic Party
then the right wing does with the establishment and moderates in the GOP.
This post probably should be in the general "Politics and Diplomacy" section but I feel that it is relevant to the topic
of this video and is just my way of giving an overview and some insight over the US national political situation currently...
