Why is the flag being flown in the first place? I love how the mainstream media has painted the impression that homosexuality is banned in Russia. The law that was passed was an anti-gay propaganda law, not an anti-gay law. It's not illegal to be gay in Russia.

You are trolin' in the wrong place.

First, there is a lack of a mainstream social democratic party in the United States. Second, Obama is less conservative than Romney, but still more conservative than most Canadian liberals.

You didn't answer the question. Why do Canadian liberals (many UTers included) love Obama if he's more conservative than you?

It's funny how you can say that, yet when a straight person doesn't toe the line, they're a bigot/homophobe, etc. Accusations require evidence to be considered legitimate. Without it, calling people names and waging war on their character is bullying. It's astonishing that many gay people still resort to the tired homophobia card. How the hell are you ever going to win people over when you alienate them? When you begin to personally insult people that hold different beliefs than you, you've already lost.

How would calling people "uneducated", "narrow-minded", or "living in the past" be received any warmer than calling them "disgusting bigots?" You're still insulting them; just in a less hostile manner. How about not using labels at all and attacking arguments, and not personal character?

When someone's thinking has a negative impact on other people's freedoms, people naturally 'get their backs up'. Their rights as a human being are being denied...it's not to be trivialized.

Anyone in Russia living outside the closet is seen as promoting the lifestyle.

For young people (18 to early-mid 20s), Rob Ford reminds them of someone and that person is Charlie Sheen. In Ford, they see "one of them". A guy they can party with. They think he's awesome. They are ignorant of, nor do they care about his policies or his lying ways or many other things. They just don't care. Now whether these young people will vote for Ford, that is another story, because as we know, young people tend to not vote. Regardless, Ford parties therefore he is awesome.

No. Ford isn't one of us. He's entertainment.

Regarding the last video. The guy in the suit looks more TPS than Corporate Security.

The young man identified as "Michael" looks to be wearing an unmarked uniform parka similar to what the City issues.

These are just my personal opinions, of course.

Historically, hand holding stupid bigots hasn't achieved much. Making fun of them, yelling at them and even physically fighting them when forced to on the other hand has gotten results. If I alienate someone who is made uncomfortable by the thought of LGBT people or a rainbow flag, or someone who lives sealed in such a little bubble that they literally don't understand why it was raised in the first place, then so much the better. People like that should feel alienated; so alienated that they are too embarrased to do anything but keep their shitty, ignorant and poorly thought out opinions to themselves. They don't have arguments, they don't have a legitimate position, just an uncomfortable feeling in their pants or the back of their minds when someone different walks by, and unfortunately they're immature enough to think that counts for something.

That's not trolling. That is a fact.

hey Mr. Single Digit Posts--go away. we can all see where you're going with your trollish BS. you know why? because we have been dealing with trolls on this thread forever. you're like number 800--and you all say the same stupid things. just spare yourself the energy and piss off back to the comments section of boneheads.com or wherever you normally spit up your stupid remarks.

Different types of categorisations. Labels that do not denote intentionality but suggest insensitive behaviour are fine by me, and in practice are pretty effective so long as they are aimed at political leaders and not at the general population.

Interesting comment from a Sun commenter:

Let's go back to June 15th, shall we?

Rob Ford was "viciously" assaulted by Shannon Everett, who threw a drink at the mayor at the Taste of Little Italy.

"It's not funny," Ford said on his radio show. "That
hurt, man. When it hits you in the face, you don't expect it, right?"

Said big brother Doug:

“There’s a bunch of crazies out there. Our family’s been threatened. My
kids have been threatened. Rob’s been threatened. His staff’s been
threatened. So, yeah, I think we need security.”

As we all know now, it was BS. NOW released video of the "incident" and the mayor's account was completely false.

Why is this interesting?

This was the week of the Project Traveler raids. When the heat is turned up, the Fords play victim.

I would normally disregard this kind of comment, but it was only a few days ago where many in the media appeared to be convinced that more arrests were imminent. Shit may be about to hit the fan... Maybe.
