You can't always control people's road to becoming civically engaged. Yes, it would be great if every mom and pop were good at media strategy, but it doesn't work that way. If those moms and kids had the anger and energy to make it down to city hall in our very apathetic city, more power to them!
Everyone needs to be doing more besides complaining.
When we organized the Ford must go rally a week after he admitted smoking crack, only about 1500 people showed up. While that is a huge number in Toronto, where people are very complacent, it should have been much much higher.
Anytime anyone does something to show concern in TO, it is a case to be happy and encouraging. Hopefully, those concentric rings of engagement will spread out, and encourage others to get off their butts and get involved!
Rob Ford at least has been good for getting people politicized.

Yes, maybe, but what exactly are you suggesting? A lot of good info in this thread, but there's also been a lot of wild & woolly speculation, often on the flimsiest of premises.

Do the Fords know people who know people? Sure. Are the Fords at the center of an international cocaine/heroin smuggling op? Oh boy, I sure hope so, given that the cops are moving in, but what I think you're implying here is a massive stretch from what we know so far.

Sure, the 'Ndragheta are here in a big way, but why on earth would they want to hook up too closely with such a bunch of raging amateurs as the Fords, whether or not they have political power?

For what it's worth, I had beers last night with one of my buddies who is about as closely connected to someone who would know as you can get. He told me that he was told last week that Ford probably wouldn't make it to the election, a lot more was to come out, and that it's about a lot more than just smoking crack.

I am suggesting people do their own research into Toronto criminality. This Ford fiasco has piqued my interest in Toronto crime. I've stated in this thread that I have no direct information, just an ability to delve into archives of Toronto and crime.

What I have deduced is that what we see on the surface, is not the whole picture. There is always more serious issues underlying something like a mayor caught doing drugs.....kinda like seeing an iceberg....the true size of it lies under the surface.

Have I piqued your sleuthing interest? :)

For those following along there are a lot of fatalistic behavior tendency that a man can get wrapped up in (unknowingly even) that can bring down a house of cards... Wild guesses anyone? Under-aged Escorts perhaps?
