It's a shame they have to spell that out for adults. Don't they teach it in school anymore?

BTW What is the penalty if you break Rule #9?

Hmmm. . . it's nice to see that the Integrity Comish is trying to do this, but honestly I'm not impressed. It looks like more of the same - very aspirational language and no punishments. Ford has really showed up the extent to which the system is built on shared assumptions of decorum and shame - he's a giant, sweaty Garfinkel experiment right before our eyes.

it's time to stop being so damned Canadian about this. Ford's not going to be upset by getting some tersely-worded letters from the Office of Politesse - you need very clear rules with real teeth: censure people. Force public and immediate letters of apology. Hold open media hearings for disciplinary meetings. Hell, just dock people pay if they miss meetings or break rules.

It's a shame - we'd most of us rather live in a world where these sorts of integrity rules go without saying. Ford's shown us, though, why that's not enough.

All of this "go tattle on DoFo to the integrity commissioner" talk is pretty weak. Won't lead to anything and won't change behaviours. If someone really wanted to piss off the Fords they should start a campaign to have Douglas B. Ford park renamed to something else. The patriarch of that train wreck of a family should take some responsibility for the Brothers Dim, and what better way than erasing him from the civic record. Rob and Doug would be apoplectic with rage, which would make for a beautiful sight.

100%. The Fords have already made is crystal clear how seriously they take the IC and the honour system that underpins the office. It's simple, folks: no real sanctions, no results.

Your idea, on the other hand, would get a huge reaction instantly. I kinda love it.

So Doug claimed that the police gave him a minor's rap sheet? A minor that would be protected by the Young Offender's act? It's either bull or the police released information that they're absolutely not allowed to release.

Who can access criminal records?

A number of law enforcement agencies have access to criminal record information through direct access to CPIC, including provincial and municipal police services. Other law enforcement agencies with limited powers under federal or provincial legislation also have complete access to a person's criminal record through CPIC. These agencies include:

Agencies authorized in the Young Offenders Act
Canadian Pacific Railway Police
Citizenship and Immigration Canada
Correctional Service of Canada
Department of Agriculture
Federal and Provincial Ministries of Environment

Insurance crime prevention bureaus
Parks Canada
Provincial correctional services
Provincial court services
Provincial securities commissions
Canada Customs and Revenue Agency
United States Customs, United States Immigration and individual state police departments.

Who can access youth records?

No one can access a youth record, except those authorized under the Young Offenders Act.

Under the Young Offenders Act there are strict limitations regarding who can access a youth record. Section 44.1 states that the following people can access a youth's record:

The young person .
The young person's parents or guardian
The young person's legal counsel
Any judge, court, review board
Any peace officer
Alternative Measures Program staff
Attorney General
Staff who are responsible for the care and supervision of the young person
A government of Canada employee for statistical purposes
Any person who determines the granting of criminal record checks required for all levels of government.

Maybe just install an old-fashioned swear jar? ;)

Do they still have them in offices?

Doug Ford blames Autism Youth Home comments on Rob Ford’s alcoholism
Tuesday, 20 May 2014 19:07 Written by Luke Gordon Field

http://www.thebeaverton.com/toronto...-youth-home-comments-on-rob-ford-s-alcoholism

TORONTO - After alleging that a youth home helping children cope with autism was “ruining the neighbourhood” City Councillor Doug Ford took full responsibility for his comments today, by blaming them entirely on his brother’s well documented struggle with alcohol.

“When my brother drinks he is compelled to smoke crack cocaine,” said Ford. “By comparable logic, when my brother drinks I feel compelled to insult children dealing with a severe medical condition.”

Ford when on to specify that the specific group he insults is dependent on what type of alcohol Rob is abusing. When when Rob drinks vodka, he insults kids with autism. But if Rob is having beer, Doug’s ire will turn more towards those with ADHD. Naturally Rob drinking tequila forces Doug to call kids with cerebral palsy “spastics.”

Asked how there could be a connection between his brother drinking too much and him acting cruelly to some of society’s most vulnerable members, Ford shrugged and stated,

“I don’t know. Why is there a connection between Rob drinking and then somehow needing to consume an incredibly addictive and illegal drug in a room full of gangsters and murderers? But we all seem to have accepted that is plausible.”

This is very, very important. Please, retweet this far and wide. Someone in the media needs to expose Doug for this - literally the only possible explanation for him having the rap sheet is that he's lying or corrupt.
