The Fords cannot get away with a political function out of season.

Unless moving it back to the backyard is a means of obviating that concern--that way, it becomes what it *always* was at its best: a Conservative version of Joe Foti's old Liberal BBQs, but more invitingly generous to "folks" and "taxpayers".

In fact, hasn't there always been some public vs private property distinction re legal vs illegal political functions? Which is why the last two FFs have happened on Sears property rather than that of the City (cf Centennial and Thomson Parks)
 
The Ford family would fit right in playing politics in the 19th century.

The scary part is that modern American politics is not that different after all these years.
