So sexual assaults are “small issues”? It is true that Trump is like Dougie and Robbie. For one, Trump's a trust fund baby who thinks he is above the law and other social contracts, privilege is the norm for him. There are other similarities, more than I could list have the time to list right now, the most expresive of these is Populism.

Furey: Trump now knows how Rob Ford felt

It’s open season on Donald Trump now. The rules no longer apply.

In the few remaining weeks leading up to the presidential election, the establishment and the media are doing everything in their power to make sure the Republican nominee doesn’t win. He now knows how the late Toronto mayor Rob Ford must have felt.

(For those not acquainted with Furey, he is a so called political expert attached to The Sun papers, the defunct Sun News Network and TheRebel.)

We have yet another similarity between Ford and Trump. Rob says something vulgar and his wife makes a public appearance. Trump says something vulgar and Melania appears on CNN. The big difference is that Trump never apologized.

Not so, Trump made a Dougie apology.

So while negative news reports seemed to help Ford get elected they've had the opposite effect on Trump (if the polls are accurate). Probably because Ford was in ways a more sympathetic character whereas Trump seems like he's probably been a privileged bully his whole life.

It's all about the timing. His campaign so far is like a compressed Rob Ford saga - all the way to the crack use. Not so sure if the latter would be so untouchable if those revelations a) appeared during his run, b) recorded on audio and shared and c) subjected to a far more critical media (vs. the softballs we've seen here).

Looks like the end of another part of the Ford era. John Oakley's being replaced by the sounds of it. I don't think there would've been a Mayor Ford without him. No more Oakley, Bosco football--is Warmington next?
