Rob Ford and Hazel McCallion Split-Screen GTA Mayor's Ice Storm Press Conference
.

WTF ?!?
all the mayors are together at the beginning of Hazel's speech, EXCEPT Rob Frod, who comes in late and rudely walks in front of Hazel.
could he not go behind all the other people who had gathered ??

RFrod also looks completely uninterested when Hazel is speaking ...

I love Hazel's response to why the Premier Wynn should not have been there.
the mayors got together to do their homework in determining what they needed to ask the province and fed.

are you listening RFrod? do your homework !

He got booted from coaching because he went on tv and talked about his team being a bunch of potential gang bangers that he rescued from the streets. The parents got extremely pissed that Ford seemed to be stereotyping the school and their kids and he was axed.

GROSS !
I don't need that image of Rob Frod in my mind.

I am curious what got Ford banned from coaching. Things were set in motion well before the crack video stuff with a letter from the police chief. The only other coaching ban I've personally heard of (not implying this relates to Ford's case) was a guy who coached my friends baseball team hosting a gangbang with his players (who were 15 at the time). Buddy brought an escort over and had sex with the girl alongside his players (including my friend). I was actually invited but declined. My friends mom found out and told the league and the guy got banned from coaching.

Wow! How crazy stupid can you get! Aside from the ethical issues, did he not know that teenaged boys were going to talk?!
Ford would do something stupid like that too, because he can't think straight most of the time, nevermind if he was drinking.

Yeah, it was nice to listen to someone who was intelligent, articulate and informed.....and who is 90 years old! Oh, what we have been missing these past 3.5 years...

That was indeed the reason given by the TDSB. (More Speculation Coming Up Here) Is it not possible, though, that perhaps there was more to the firing than just that? What if the board officials started hearing rumblings about a hazing incident. Then the crack video scandal broke. It's quite possible they wanted quickly to show Ford the door, without having to endure the fallout from a scandal over a hazing incident.

There may be something to that, I seem to remember the Star filing FOI for the Ford football firing with TCDSB. I think they said that because Ford was not an employee, correspondence regarding the firing was exempt from FOI. That was the end of it.

Yep, Robbie got schooled by Hazel. A neighbour of mine feels the same way, since Toronto is the biggest city in the GTA, etc. then we have a unique status and we should get first consideration for everything. It's Nice to know that our "titular" Mayor is the "titular" Mayor of the "Centre of The Universe", or should that be "Center of The Universe".

Everything RoFo did on the video was disrespectful. This is why he sends proxies, and gets staff to do his jobs, like sending the current relief letter to Wynne. He has a superiority complex, and IMHO, a deep sense of insecurity to cover up.

At least we have a proper proposal in play that is not hampered by Robbie's "politics" game.

Ya, and when the escort saw the group of boys waiting for her she says to the coach "With you, I should have known." Like he'd done it a few times in the past. We actually thought he was cool for hooking the boys up at the time.

I think that's the point; there's a cultural "boys will be boys" thing involved here. To a commonplace male teen, it might not register as "abuse" in the same way; more like a welcome gift and badge of honour, particularly in a society that embraces "adultescence" in male adulthood. A coach as "one of the boys", perhaps (as in Ford's case) living out their own arrested adolescence.

That said, unless something legal came to the fore, I reckon that "Coach Ford showering with the boys" will go down as too-scurrilous-for-its-own-good a la "Jack Layton at the rub'n'tug". Well, in and of itself, at least...

Rob Ford and Hazel McCallion Split-Screen GTA Mayor's Ice Storm Press Conference

The show of hands was at the 9:30 mark, only the Brampton and Toronto mayors did. Hazel's remark about the PM is at the 11:30 mark.

Wow Robbie looks angry at the beginning. I'm wondering if he thought he's the one who should have been the focus of the press conference (this thought is also backed up by his walking in late, in front of Mayor McCallion like the temper tantrumy baby he is). I thought Mayor McCallion did a fantastic job, especially in response to Ford's attempt at politicking. I hope that the news agencies followed up every clip of Rob talking about the Premiere with Mayor McCallion talking about the correct process.

I won't speculate on the topic of Ford or Sandro's sexuality. What I will say is that, by my reading, the ITO depicts a relationship that runs much deeper than your garden variety dealer-user relationship.

One of the most telling lines is when Sandro is quoted as saying something to the effect of how great Ford is and that everyone is out to get him. My initial reaction, back before any of the recent speculation, was that what they felt/feel for each other is bordering on love.

Also, the ITO tells us that Ford and Payman have been friends for 20 years (which I find interesting because that puts Rob in his early/mid 20s and Payman in high school). Payman, who also goes back more than a decade with Lisi, introduces them. (Aside, there's no evidence that Ford knew Sandro before 2012, which makes the line about 'Dro volunteering on the 2010 campaign seem like perjury). Anyway, Payman gets pissed at Lisi because he's a bad influence on Ford.

Finally, Enzo di Matteo has made reference to Sandro having a long list of powerful people that he wanted to take down.

I don't pretend to know what this all adds up to, othet than to say that there's clearly more to the Ford-Lisi relationship than we have learned so far.

On the topic of Don Bosco, I have always wanted to know the full story - and I'm convinced that said story is very newsworthy.

Don Bosco claiming that Ford was an employee is the legal equivalent of "The dog ate my homework." Daniel Dale said that meditation talks between The Star and Don Bosco failed, so the matter is now before the Information and Privacy Commissioner.

Just a guess, but Bosco's obstinance suggests that this is about much more than a few (admittedly awful) comments in a ln interview with The Sun).
