These are the people asking for our votes. Anyone remember Mayor Lastman on CNN during SARS?

"During the 2003 SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) crisis, Lastman did an interview on CNN. When he was asked what the World Health Organization was doing about the crisis, Lastman replied "They don't know what they're talking about. I don't know who this group is. I've never heard of them before."

I thought that Doug voted against them too. He and Rob were on the losing end of a lot of 38-2 votes. Well, that is when Doug bothered to show up!

Not Kayla - her sister Kyla.

Reading though Kyla's public Instagram feed is... unsettling. It starts out exclusively as pics of nasty-looking food simulacra, and within two years it's just selfies of her at -2% body fat. She's definitely fit, but if it weren't for the muscles it would look like an eating disorder PSA.

I don't know. The food combos do seem a bit crazy, but if that's what you need to consume to build...probably one those people that has to eat six times a day just to keep up. She does seem to manage to consume a lot of actual food along the way though - oatmeal, squash, salmon, squash, egg whites, squash, asparagus, squash, quinoa, squash. Girl does seem to love her squash carbs. I liked the pic of her in Vegas last week in the pumpkin patch.

Between the food, not-quite food, the superfoods, the training, hair, make-up, nails, fake tans and outfits this bodybuilding shtick must cost a fortune.

Absolutely! I was just commenting on the debate factor. :)
It's frustrating that there are so many debates but really, how many (if any) does the average voter see/hear?

I agree. I'm kinda thinking it over in my head and I haven't reached a satisfying conclusion. Obviously I don't want too few, that may benefit only the incumbents with name recognition and keep out new and fresh blood. Especially at the municipal level. Too many debates, and it can become useless static generator.

"Folks" were still mad about the 2009 strike.

This. I remember speaking to a Ford fan before Rob ran for 2010 Mayor, and the conversation was what convinced me Rob has a serious chance when he did run. It's disconcerting sometimes to see the politics of division, ignorance, and anger that Rob tapped into I still see existing, on -all- sides of the city. Whoever wins the 2014 TO Merryl Bowl will have their work cut out for them in terms of mending fences.

Dr. Sheela Basrur looked like she just saw what was really behind the Wizard's curtain in that snapshot. IIRC she was the one that really took charge, and did an excellent job of it during SARS.

Dr. Basrur died in 2008 of Hemangiopericytoma at the age of 51. Another "1 percenter" (sarcoma-wise) like Rob.

Hemangiopericytomais a rare tumour affecting blood vessels and soft tissues.

It is one of about a dozen kinds of soft tissue sarcoma. Soft tissue sarcomas can develop in any part of the body, but are most commonly found in the trunk, arms and legs in young patients. Soft tissues, which connect and surround other body parts and organs, include muscles, fat, blood vessels and nerves.

A sarcoma refers to a cancerous growth of the soft tissues, usually appearing at first as painless swelling.
