How about that gondola from Whyte to Rossdale to Downtown?

It could have capacity needed for well attended games and drop folks at one of two stops within a 5 minute walking distance and would be tied to Central LRT and major bus routes along Whyte.

Problem solved.

I want that gondola built as well. The problem lies with Janz and his union buddies at ETS, and with the indigenous peoples who don't even want an outhouse built in the area.

I'm as frustrated as anyone that the gondola didn't happen, but let's not misplace blame here. EllisDon failed miserably in consulting appropriately, given the importance of the area to Indigenous people. I believe that some wonderful things are possible here but it has to be done the right way, without 'token' consultation. You might be surprised what can happen when you start off in a respectful way and include the right people from day 1. Keep an eye on this space

Oh it's quite accurate. If you don't have Indigenous folks at the table from day 1 (in a meaningful way) for a project in a part of the city as rich in Indigenous history as this area is, your project will fail. EllisDon learned the hard way.

Thank you to those who shared their ideas and feedback with us over the past year through the Building a Project Vision Together, Exploring Opportunities and Exploring Options and Tradeoffs project stages. The Project Team has now created a draft design that meets current City standards, policies and technical considerations and considers public input.
