Retail insider shows a cursory rendering from the Saks website:

Looks like they'll be adding a metal grille to the clerestory part of the display windows?

I hope that they don't make the signage look like that... I would prefer to have the text to be directly on the building (without the black box) and larger.

looks like they'll also bring the doors out to the street at the corner of queen and yonge. I like the way the doors are currently set back behind the corner display window as the sidewalk isnt that wide and it makes a more comfortable transition from outside to inside. oh well....

Is the subway entrance still going to be there?

That entrance to the subway is currently closed off for renovations. If the rendering is accurate, I wonder if they will reconfigure it so that you will need to go through Saks/Hudson's Bay to exit to the south side of the street. I suppose as an alternate option, you can still take the stairs that exit onto the North side of Queen St. from the subway.

WRT the Saks signage - I think all their recent stores have the same style of signage.
The wording looks a bit raised above the background.

The Sarasota and San Juan stores shown here looks a lot like the Sherways Gardens store.
Incidentally, designed by the same architects as Holt Renfrew's new stores - Janson Goldstein.

Alterations approved by the city’s Preservation Board May 28 to make way for Saks Fifth Avenue store and restaurant/bar include: new display windows at Yonge and Queen; reconfiguration of the southeast corner of the building at Yonge and Richmond with removal of angled display window and revolving doors (non-original) as well as the relocation of the war memorial located in hexagon-shaped vestibule, which features a hexagonal column, etched glass and Art Deco metal work. A portion of the marble wall on the west side of the lobby will also be removed for an elevator. Hudson's Bay will be relocated to the western half of the building.

They're deep into construction at Saks inside The Bay. I passed by an open door in the hoarding and noticed that it's all gutted. I used to work there at that very spot once upon a time. It was a sobering moment of how much time has gone by.

I'm most looking forward to the bridge being replaced. I'm guessing that it's probably being built off site and will be brought in and assembled in place toward the end of the construction some time next Spring.

As mentioned in the Eaton Centre thread in P&C, this is only a concept, and not a finished design for the bridge. From Cadillac Fairview:

Cadillac Fairview is looking at how best to renovate and/or replace what's currently there. We haven't landed on a final design yet, so we don't have a schedule for when the work would take place (or for how long). The current bridge will stay open until such time.

Here's what the arrival via the Skywalk looks like now:

Lots of snazzy, shiny marble. Just to the right of the "FREE GIFT" sign is the entry into the new women's shoe department of Hudson's Bay.
