Should Canada keep the Monarchy?

The quebecois may not like the monarchy, but they like Canada even less.

This doesn't seem right to me. Polls like this and this put opposition to the monarchy at ~75% in Quebec. That's about 30 percentage points higher than the upper bound for support for Quebec sovereignty in recent years. If sovereignty were polling anywhere above 55%, there would be a stupendous freakout in this country.

What I'm trying to say is that if there was a referendum on Quebec separation, it would be a longshot. If there were a referendum (in Quebec) on abolishing the monarchy, it would be a landslide.

The Quebec issue is complicated because of the degree of self-determination given to the First Nations in the north. While not necessarily loyal to Ottawa, many native groups (or at least their leaders) are very loyal to the Crown, feeling that they got a better deal from the British government than the Canadian government. There has been talk of native-majority areas in northern Quebec re-joining Canada, or at least separating from an independent Quebec, should the referendum turn in the PQ's favour.
