Both the Stellarton and Mississauga office are considered 'National' offices - however, this new one will house significantly more people. Last I heard, it has a capacity of over 1000 people.

With that said, Sobeys currently has 4 offices in Mississauga and they'll be condensing all into this one central location - including their regional office (located at Viscount and the Airway Centre) and the national offices (on Tech & Matheson).

The regional office on Viscount recently sold and is being vacated in fall of 2014.

Both the Mississauga and Halifax (err suburb of Halifax) say "national" ...

Stellarton is about 1.5 hours outside of Halifax, close to the town of New Glasgow. That area of the province is pretty much a wasteland of economic and social decay; there is NOTHING going on up there, except for drinking, gov't benefits scams, and gas huffing. There was a rumour a few years back (when I still lived in NS) that Sobeys had eyes on relocating their HQ to Mississauga, but were hesitant due to the optics of pulling out as a major employer in an area that desperately needs one. I'll bet most of the executive suits will be working from the fancy new HQ.

Mods!! the current location as noted is 1.5 miles from where this site is and should be Eglinton/Tahoe Blvd since it is on the south-west corner of the intersection of Eglinton and Tahoe or 4980 Tahoe Blvd.

Not sure if all this land is for this project with more to come or being used to build this building as the area is very large. Maybe there will build the warehouse next here.

There is a nice deep open trench between it and Eastgate that will be part of Mississauga Transit Way with a Station south of Tahoe. It continue north to Eglinton and goes under it and east along the north side of Eglinton between the Bell Campus in a deep open trench. Another station at Tahoe on the west side. Noise maybe an issue for those buildings down the road as service is built up over time.

Bit of a photo dump from my ride on the MiWay Express 109. Quality lacks but we get the idea Sobey's cladding is nearing completion on all sides. Also seems there are some 1 store (retail/office?) buildings going up I believe along Eglinton IIRC. I added a picture of them at the end. Anyone know what theses are? 80% of the parking lot was fill the day I was there. Rest of the lot is partly close for construction. A great number of car pool spot close to the building as well a few electric plug ins spots.

Gawd, that looks bigger than the global HQ is Stellarton, Nova Scotia. Will this be yet another big firm spawned in Nova Scotia that ends up leaving? Royal Bank, Scotia Bank, Cunard Lines, ....... Sobeys?
