Norman Reed is leaving the mall as of today with lease expired notices up on the windows.

The Food area on the upper level over the food court are going to have double the space, as all the open areas are to become a floor slab. With the steel beams in place for the slab, it confirm what I expected sometime ago for this area.

Now when is Nordstrom setting up shop here?

Time to make that expansion a taller and larger area.

With a 2016 time line for Holt Renfrew, bye bye Movie Theater.

FWIW the floor plan has finally been updated on Oxford's website. Looks like that hallway is actually being filled in. Doesn't say what's going there though.

Femme de Carriere is moving into the spot beside Lacoste.
Fiorio is moving to where Green Earth (or whatever it was called) used to be
Children's Place is moving to where William Ashley used to be.

Looks like Stockhomme is being replaced by Skechers in October.
Loft and Stance are taking over the old Children's Place location.

Top Shop is taking the old Stance.

Melanie Lyne is in the old Lenscrafters until their new location is build in the old useless corridor.

Urban Planet replaces Urban Behavior Spring/Summer

New foodcourt is shown.

As per the press release:

Ann Taylor, Loft, White House | Black Market and Top Shop are all slated to open at Square One later this year. In addition, FOOD CENTRAL will open this August offering an elevated food experience and welcoming several new food retailers including Chipotle, Amaya, Big Smoke, Su & Shi and Szechuan Express.

Can you indicate what kind of size this new retailer will take up?

Can't yet, sorry... It might make the tenant an easy guess. We sometimes get info from landlords on the condition that we release it when allowed. This unfortunately is one of those situations.

If your Facebook hint is related to this announcement it would make me very, very happy.

The photo is a straight give away and where I said it would take some time ago. With the drop off loop there is what the store needs.

Since this area has been dead from day one regardless of the movie theater. Never could understand why they put the theater there as well made all those changes from the original construction plan after OMERS bought the mall while the expansion was underway. $25m when down the drain for the 1 year halt of construction, burying parts of already built areas to ending up with is mess.

Besides Holt Renfrew, Square One will be announcing another major tenant in the near future. They've asked us to keep quiet about Holt's exact location and other tenants for now. In the mean time, we prepared this detailed article on Holt's Square One move: http://www.retail-insider.com/2013/04/holt-renfrew-opening-120000-sq-ft-store.html
I hate when people know information, but don't post it. If you didn't obtain the information illegally, then just release it. Don't sit on it.

They seem to be media, not industry, so I don't see why they would have signed a confidentiality clause. If that's the case then they should make it clear they are in the PR business, as opposed to being independent media.

We're not in the PR business and we're not governed by confidentiality clauses (in this case, anyway - this author/lawyer also does some confidential deals involving retail). And sorry khristopher, we were asked to keep the new Square One tenant information confidential and we're respecting that source's request. It's sometimes better to maintain good relations with sources and build media buzz than to give away information immediately. ACT7 is doing the same with the former Lacoste space at 103-131 Bloor W, which has been leased to a luxury retailer - we're both aware of the tenant and we'll announce it probably early next week.

it sounds like a retailer that would required substantial sq footage... speculating what it could be... simons? bloomingdales?

Okay, well can you keep your rumours to your website? This is a forum for reporting facts and news, not rumours or "we know, but we can't tell you" type of hype up.

I can say that Holt's will go in the south-west end of the mall near the Empire Theatres. They will have to shuffle some retailers around in order to make room for Holts.
