Richtree Market construction will be completed by the end of next week.

This leaves 1 week of training and setting up if this place to be open by Christmas. The eating area in corridor has been glass in. I have looking inside, but didn't have my camera with me to take shots.

Black has open to the point they gave up 25% of their space as well the corner area.

Aroma Espresso Bar is open.

So now it is being advertised, Sport Chek is moving into the mall in Spring 2016

Interesting. I was there today and missed it.

A few notes:

–I asked around about what will be occupying the former Empire/Landmark theatre space. The person at the management office said they are still in discussions, although it will "compete with the Holt Renfrew wing". I asked if it's "Bloomingdales". "Bloomingdales is good but this is going to be even better". "Saks?" Awkward freeze... smile. "You'll see, it's going to be great." Make of that what you will, but I think we can expect a large luxury retailer moving in by 2016.

–L'Occitane en Provence opened today. Store was PACKED.

–Target has wrapped the glass Cityside entrance with a winter-themed ad.

No way it can be Saks, unless they've decided to bail on their plans for Sherway (which wouldn't be a bad idea considering that mall's dismal performance of late). Bloomingdales and Macy's have both made it clear they're not coming to Canada. I am more interested to know if/when Walmart is finally leaving the mall. Perhaps the moving of Sport Check will open up space in that area for a Wally's?

I don't think Walmart will be leaving anytime soon (I might be wrong about this, but isn't SQ1 one of their best performing locations in Canada?). Although I'm a fan of Target I, for one, would sorely miss the convenience of having a Walmart inside the mall.

Well... Oxford was pitching Saks on Yorkdale (and Oxford Place). So it could have been one of those: You want yorkdale, you gotta take Square One. But I'd be pretty surprised (its super close to Sherway); although as I've noted before the Saks rollout in Canada seems to over-estimate the market (from my outside vantage). Also (With the exception of Yorkdale) Oxford generally leases their malls through a more centralized downtown office. General managers of malls are involved, but they aren't out there actively leasing tenants.

Forever 21 will be lucky if it is open by the end of the month, but more like Feb based on what I saw yesterday.

Surprise Home Outfitters was still open as they have very little to sell.

Bentley has an upscale store now than the old look store.

Mexx (?) is closing their store both here and Heartland.

New Display screens have been installed throughout the mall using various sizes.

The centre court skylight is being upgraded.

The West Court Yard may come natural light than the current look,as drywall being removed from above the stores.

That's a clever way to get rid of that less-desirable dead-end space - create one big store with frontage on the main corridor.
