I'm going to a leafs game on thursday, and wanted to know if there are any good local spots for cheap beer and food. what are your favorite spots in St. lawrence?
I don't know anywhere that's super "cheap" that I would visit in the area, but here are a few reasonable suggestions:
- A great new spot that's been open for a few months is the AAA Bar (
http://tripleabar.ca/) on the north side of Adelaide just before Jarvis. They do Texas-style food aka ribs, fried chicken & waffles, brisket, etc. and they have a decent selection of beers on tap and in bottles/cans. It's within walking distance of the ACC, if you get there fairly soon after they open at 5 you should be okay to make the game.
- C'est What on the southeast corner of Church and Front (
http://www.cestwhat.ca/) is also a good standby, great all-Canadian beer selection and the food has been quite good lately.
- Right next to C'est What is the Jersey Giant which is a pretty standard pub. The food is better than you would expect, but the atmosphere can be a bit dank. Beats the nearby Firkin though, in my opinion, or most of the spots on the Esplanade row.
- A new burger chain called The Works (
http://www.worksburger.com/) has recently opened on the northwest corner of Church and Front, I've never tried it, but it looks like it could be a good pre-game spot.
