It's true but many Soviet names are steel there. Those that I mentioned in the previous post - they are everywhere, thousands them. It is the same as Canada and Monarchy - Monarchy is not here anymore, but the street names are.
Our head of state is some old lady who lives in Buckingham Palace. She is on our money. Yes, Canada is still a monarchy, albeit with a foreign head of state.

Come on, the Royal family does not have real political power, the country is ruled by Prime Minister, Senate and political parties.

Some people in another thread on this forum were discussing the need to change Ontario flag to get rid of "Monarchy past".

Anyway, I think that keeping street names from the old times is ok since it is the way to remember the past.

In Canada, the head of government is the prime minister and the head of state only looks good on money.

Indeed, names like Church, James, Elizabeth and Victoria make the list. But also plenty of nature references, and boring old numbers, too.

There also Front St in Port Credit. Port Credit and Streetsville both have a Queen St so there's TWO Queen Sts in Mississauga...
