Thanks for the link..

Also good to see the Target sign up on the corporate offices when you're on the 401 (near the airport).. I think that's the first place to officially have the logo up in Canada right?

Guess that goes to show you Target really just wants to concentrate on a good clean start-up here.. The court case would've dragged out well into next year.. this way there's way less 'politics' upon opening. Good for them.

3 in Brampton and 1 in Mississauga? Target is off target lol.

Target still has the option to elect on Sheridan Mall, Westdale Mall and Erin Mills TC in Mississauga. The Erin Mills is a sure thing, it's just a question of when they'll convert the Zellers, and so it might be a fall 2013 opening.

Westdale is utterly dead - the Metro is gone, ditto Zellers. It's probably a prime site along Dundas St. W for complete redevelopment. Condos, anyone?

AoD

EDIT: Zellers is apparently still around - with a semi-burnt out sign.

No one mentioned about Target coming to Lawrence Square? To be fair, I believe that Target would be coming to the Lawrence Square area if there is some major renovations (the Zellers there has two storeys and has a mall connection).

Apparently, 39 Zellers locations will be converted to Walmarts - this year. I seem to remember something about this but hadn't heard of the number of stores or locations.. Here are the Ontario stores:

  • Gerrard Square Toronto
  • Sheridan Mall Toronto
  • Cedarbrae Mall Toronto
  • Stanley Park Kitchener
  • Peterborough South Peterborough
  • Zellers Centre Waterloo
  • Hawkesbury Gateway Hawkesbury
  • County Fair Thunder Bay
  • Gloucester City Centre Ottawa
  • County Fair Plaza Hamilton
  • Fairview Mall St. Catharines
  • Arthur Street Marketplace Thunder Bay
  • Northland Mall London
  • Georgetown Market Place Georgetown
  • Tillsonburg Town Centre Tillsonburg
  • Station Mall Sault Ste. Marie
  • Kingsway Village Oshawa
  • 404 Town Centre Newmarket
  • Carriage Shopping Centre Listowel

Barmpton gets 3.
Richmond Hill 0, Vaughan 0, Markham 0?
One in Aurora and one in Newmarket but that's it for all of York region.
What about Peel region makes it a better market than York region?

Except for the Zellers at Hillcrest Mall in Richmond Hill, there are no other Zellers stores for Target to convert in York Region. Would not be surprised at all to see newly built Target stores in York sometime after the initial 2013 roll-out ...

Both Aurora & Newmarket will get a Target through the conversion of former Zelllers spaces (so not just R.Hill). The only markets that will most likely get new build space are Vaughan and Markham (and in both markets Target has already appeared on several site plans, although nothing confirmed).
